Hello. I'm new to this board. My surgery was 4/29/13. The day I came home from the hospital (day 5) I was down 12 lbs. Now I am at week 4 and my weight is still at 9 to 12 lbs down. Haven't lost anything in 3 weeks, or I actually gain 1-2 lbs. I am getting discouraged because I read all these posts where people lose 20+ lbs in the first month. I am getting all my fluids and Protein in. Having some problems with more solid food and Constipation. Is it normal to not lose after week 1? I haven't lost any weight in 3 weeks, and on some days my weight is up 1-2 lbs.

I guess we're all different...I just wish I felt better. Just puked my Protein <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' />

Went through this at Around the same time too. It was miserable:( but a couple of weeks later and for the most part I feel much better. Hope this is how it goes for you too:)

I had this problem right after surgery. My surgeon told me that you can't overdose on Miralax and he told me to drink it every 6-8 hours until I went. It worked after a few extra doses. Good luck!

Good to know. I will start to do that next time.

Welcome Janice. What does your Dr say? I would think you are doing what you are supposed to by getting liquid and protein in, so I'm stumped! The surgery is major and our bodies do need time to adjust. It is a big shock to the system! I would talk to your Dr and follow what he says. It will have to start coming off eventually. Be patient and best wishes!

welcome Janice,

I would call your surgeon if you have any questions. From what I'v read around here, there is no normal...some people drop weight right away, some hit stalls. I haven't dropped in about a week, but I know if I do what I'm supposed to, it will come off. I'm just so damned impatient.

I can't do this anymore. I barely kept last nights dinner down. I didn't keep this mornings Breakfast down. I am trying so hard but there is no way I am keeping all the Protein in I need. Fluids?? Well I'm trying. The only suggestion I get it to drink my fluids and get my protein.... HOW?!? I think I'm going to ask for a reversal next week at my dr appointment. I did the surgery so I could enjoy my life with my kids and now I'm so sick I can't even sit and watch.

Maybe you have a stricture. It's very common after this surgery... and a pretty easy fix. Good luck.

I feel so bad for you Kelly. It has to be hard to feel Yucky and throw everything up. I would talk to your Dr. You may have something wrong, that he can help with. Don't get discouraged yet. Talk to him and see! I wish you nothing but the best!

Thanks for the warm welcome ladies! My surgery was 4/5. I've lost 30 pounds since then. Overall I'm doing well. I'm reading all of the posts and am having a lot of the same problems and concerns. Constipation, cravings, vomiting and now I feel as if I've stalled. I have a lt of support from my husband family and friends but its nice to have you all to lean on because you know exactly what I'm going through!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
