It's official one more night. But i feel great. So prob some more purred ham for dinner. Ok not in pain. Just sore.. I rate this so far just like my gall bladder surgery. Next week could be a different story.

I am 5 days post op. I am on all clear liquid diet until my follow up appointment next week. Not hungry which is weird for me. It seems strange when its meal time for me not to cook for myself and my husband and too eat. My biggest complaint is that I am having belly pain that I can only explain as gas pain. I am passing gas but not enough I guess. Can anyone tell me is it ok to use gas drops? I bought some infants gas drops I just don't know if its ok. Also I was down 26 pounds the day of surgery not sure where I am now, but I'll find out next week. I haven't started weighing myself at home it's kind of a nice surprise when I go to the doctors office to actually of list weight instead of gaining every time.

Hello! I am struggling today. I'm on day 6 of post op and I'm hungry. I find myself very crabby and feeling down. I'm sore at my incision sites but nothing too bad. I am experiencing hiccups a few times a day. Not too gassy but I did buy Gas X for that. I started my Protein Shakes today and it doesn't help with the hunger I'm feeling. food is EVERYWHERE and it's killing me! It seems like no one else is having this problem either. I'm following the rules and sticking to my Clear Liquids and getting my 64 oz of liquids in a day. Today I got my monthly friend, which I do not normally get because I am on the Mirena so I think it's messing with my emotions. Please tell me what I should do about the hunger and if anyone else out there is struggling..thanks.

I am 10 days post op and I still have bad pain in the top of my stomach. I guess you would say near my right ribs. Sometimes the pain really hurts bad. Not able to sleep on my side yet. Do you have that pain? I don't see my Doc till Wed. I called and they said that is normal. I haven't heard of anyone else with that complain.

You know I had the same feelings with my emotions and is sucks. The first few days were a little hard for me. I think I was struggling with head hunger and my love affair with food. You will grieve for food. If you were like me I use to live to eat! We have to get in the mind set they we are now eating to live. Just take it day by day. We are going to be looking and feeling so good! I will pray for you. I cried for two days...We can do it!

I'm feeling a little frustrated. I was down 11 lbs the first week after surgery and then maintaining. I weigh myself in the mornings, and I've gained a pound a day for the past two days. I'm getting all my Protein and liquids in and walking so I really don't get it! Isn't this supposed to be the honeymoon phase where the weight is just pouring off? Could it be that I'm due for my period soon? But still... This is really frustrating!

Do yourself a favor and don't weigh every day. You'll drive yourself insane. Weight fluctuates naturally from day to day. Is your period due, have you pooped, etc.... Also, I think you're setting yourself up for failure if you're expecting it to pour off....yes, many lose faster early on, but not all (like me!). I was told to expect 2-4 pounds a week. Also a lot of people have a stall around week 3 (mine was at 2 1/2) pretty sure it's just our bodies saying oh holy crap what has she done to us!!!!!!! And the body holds on to every ounce for dear life for a week or two....

Breathe deep, do what your doc says, and hide the scale!!! It will come, hard to be patient, but you don't have much choice!

I got my monthly friend on Thursday! I think it makes things worse. Mine was late but I think that is because of the surgery. Which is probably the same thing for you even though you are on mirena... It is terrible. We are living with my parents right now and I understand everyone else has to eat but damn I want a pork chop too! ???? It smells so good!!! But I am trying to keep my eye on the prize and think in a month or 2 I can have pork too! I set mini goals for myself with foods. And things I get to look forward to. Like in 2 more weeks I get to have chicken... And stuff like that! This too shall pass! Just keep thinking positive and set some mini goals!!! We are of course here to talk to!

I have had bad pain on my right side the last couple of nights but one night I took an antibiotic capsule and I think it got stuck. The next night I diluted the contents of the capsule in Water and orange juice. I guess that was what they call dumping syndrome. I felt like someone was stabbing my right side below my ribs with a knife. I wanted to vomit and I had runny diarrhea. But today I have avoided those things and I seem to be doing just fine. I am sorry to here that your are hurting. I hope you feel better. My biggest complaint now is gas pains.

It feels weird to me not to be hungry either. I do miss eating though! I don't know if gas drops are okay but my doc told me to take extra strength gas-x.

I agree it sounds like you're having head hunger, which is the hardest thing to fight, IMO. Aunt Flo is definitely not helping with this. I don't know how to fight it other than wait it out. I eat a lot of sugar free Popsicles--the crunchy helps me some. I'm on week one of clear liquids and I have another one to go, so I know how hard it can be. For some reason hot mint tea makes me feel better. It has no tea in it so no caffeine. Try brushing your teeth too.

You know my doctor put me on clear liquids in the hospital for 2 days and then on day 3 when I was going home my Breakfast was an egg and lunch was really chopped chicken with ff mayo and a canned unsweetened pear. Of course I didn't want it but since I have been home I eat cottage cheese, tuna, ff refried Beans and stuff like that. I wonder why we have different diets?

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
