March 2013 Post Op "A New Life 2013"

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery on march 8th and I have been consistent with my weight loss' date=' down 92 lbs...I have had incredible Hair loss on the last month and I'm taking Biotin and all other Vitamins ... My Protein intake is 60 grams and my calorie intake is between 500-650. I am on MFP And its a great tool to keep track on what your eating and to also see what everyone else is eating ...[/quote']

Wow 92lbs!! That's amazing. Congrats!! My calorie intake is close to double that. Being a male, not such a bad thing. I think I really need to go back to basics, and start eating smaller and healthier. But I just don't want hair loss.

I am still below the curve for where I want to get to so I'm not complaining to much. If I can lose the rest over the next 8months I'll be happy. I'm half way at the moment.

I'm considering a memorial service for my hair. I swear every time I shower it looks like someone drowned a moderately sized squirrel in the tub.

I hear your there. I have to clean many brush out every time I run it through my hair. It's been lime this for about a month. I'm hoping it stops soon.

I'm not liking the thinning , it seems to around my hairline in the front...so far have been on the Biotin for 2 weeks and eating peanuts to give me a boost in my protein...I'm finally at 800 with my calorie intake but haven't tried anything really new... No meats or chicken .. Have up chicken because it seems to be my problem food.< /p>

It's funny, those of us from February started complaining about Hair loss 4-6 weeks ago. Y'all are right on schedule!!!! Hopefully is slows down for all of us before we're all skinny but beautifully bald!!!!

My surgery was on 3/27 so I'm 4 months post op today. I've lost a total of 77 lbs and so far have had no complications or regrets. The weight loss has slowed down some but still moving in the right direction. I still want to drop another 40 lbs or so to get to my goal.

3/26/13 I was 4 months post op and I'm down 50lbs. This is an amazing feeling. I love seeing the changes my body is making. I LOVE getting dressed to go out, it's so fun now and it use to b such a drag. I love this new life, I pray I am able to hold on to this feeling forever!

I was 4 months post op on the 19th of this month. I have lost a total of 87 lbs, 60 since surgery. I was hospitalized last month with a large ulcer but still would not change a thing. I went to my 20th high school reunion last weekend and was so proud of how I looked. I too hope I can stay this way forever. 40 lbs to goal!

Surg 3-18-13. food issues since. Sick alot. Have lost 47 lbs since surg but 77 for the year. hair falling out. Doctor pretty much doesn't care about my food issues. Sadly, I need to find a new md before I go crazy. This has been a bittersweet experience.

Needed some inspiration this morning so I decided to take a photo and put it side by side with my 2 week post op photo. Today I am a little over four months out.

Wow, I fit in a size 8 today. I still don't see myself as being smaller. My head has definitely not caught up to the loss that I've had. I thought for sure I would never have that problem. Anyone else experiencing this?

Just wanted to check in guys... Surgery date March 4th.... Since surgery 80lbs.... 144lbs total... I lost 64 lbs prior to surgery.... I have 62lbs until my personal goal weight.... I have noticed that when you log into MFP you can go back and see what you have done on previous days if you feel as if you are stalled.. I am still drinking a Protein Shake for Breakfast and eating the Quest bars to reach my Protein goals..... Being about 5 months is this what the majority of everyone else doing? Or eating more protein through food? Curious to know.

I still drink protein shake for breakfast and either one for lunch or as a snack. It's the only way I can get the amount of protein in that my body needs to drop the weight. Great job on your loss! You can add me on MFP I'm KRaney73

I "try" to eat enough protein through food and I can do it on a good day if I eat 3 meals and 2 Snacks. But if on the run or unable to get all the protein from food, I drink a protein shake or eat a Protein Bar to supplement.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
