March 2013 Post Op "A New Life 2013"

I didn't have a binder thingy either.. Just my skin and incisions!!! Bad news, my dad is in the ICU, apparently he has a tear in his aorta, and they say operating is too dangerous... But leaving it to heal could also kill him if his Bp is too high.. I'm a nervous wreck and the first thing that came to mind was a big bowl of ice cream!! It finally dawned on me that I had indeed used food for comfort in the past! So instead, I just held my husband and kids and let the tears and emotions flow... Please, those who believe in the power of prayer, pray for my dad to recover from this and be back to his old self soon! Thank You All!!! May God bless you !

You and your dad/family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Sleepy?

I am still on the pain meds (lortab) I'm so sleepy and can literally not hold my eyes open. I know I get tired quickly I'm only 4 days post, but I feel drugged. Is it the surgery or the meds or the combo??

Definitely a combo effect. You just had major surgery. Give your body some time to recover. It took me a few days to start feeling kind of normalish again. When I stopped taking the lortab during the day I felt much better. I just did the liquid Tylenol during the day and lortab at night. Hope you feel better soon :)

Happy Easter to All!! I know for us March Madness peeps there will be no indulgences. But I am more than happy to give it all a miss, as I am so happy with my constant weight loss.

I have had zero dumping and want to keep that going.

Saw all my friends yesterday, and so glad that no one said anything about my surgery. But it was relatively easy not to have that beer or Snacks that everyone else was having.

All the best to those April surgeries. Let the losing begin.

Cannot wait to follow everyone's progress and compare notes/results next March (2014) and to share our experiences with all the new March surgeries.

Have a wonderfully blessed day.

I'm sad this morning. I got tired of weighing myself every day so I am spacing it to every other day. I'm meeting my Protein goal except for maybe 5-6grams every day. I'm still trying to get all my liquids in. But last time I weighed in it said 249.8. Two days layer...250.6. I know there are plateaus but this is definitely discouraging!! I didn't think I'd get one so soon.

I wish I knew what to do. I only eat/ drink protein. MFP says 70% of my intake is protein, 15% fat and 15% carbs. I can't cut any carbs out because they come in the shakes. Same with fat. My period is over so I can't say it's that.

:(

I hope everyone else has better luck than mine!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
