My worst fear has come true.....my band has slipped

My band has slipped. :cry I cannot believe this is happening. I have had my band since October of 2003. I have done very well with it. I have lost 106 with the band making a total of 155 all together.

I have had a tummy tuck, breast lift and face lift within the last year. I was feeling so good about myself and then BAM! I am soooo upset!

My 3 choices were to 1} Have it removed (would most likely gain weight

back)

2} Have it converted into a RNY (not gonna

happen!)

3} Have it repaired ...... this is what I am choosing

to do.

My doctor is going to try and get my insurance to pay since I also have a hiatal hernia. Keep your fingers crossed for me. I have come so far and I NEVER want to go back to the weight I was before.

sometimes a slipped band can fix itself when all the fluid is removed for a few weeks..be greatful you are not eroded like I did. There is hope though I lost my band due to erosion in Nov 2005 and I have only gained 5 lbs back, it is possible to keep your weight off. Whatever you chose I wish you the best :)

This slipped band isn't fixing itself. I have had no fill in it for 8 weeks now. Thanks for all the kind thoughts.

Katzgirl: I will keep you in my prayers, I know it will work out in your favor.

I hope this doesn't sound corny, bear with me people I have just begun my journey. Does the band slip with the weight loss? Isn't true that with the stomach being a muscle it is possible to shrink?

Pamla68, I think that question would be answered best by Dr C. I have no idea.

Thanks KatzGirl! What say ye, Dr. C? lol

Seriously, the stomach, being a muscle, have an effect on slippage or any type of movement?

The stomach doesn't really shrink, but the fat around the stomach which is inside the band does shrink. This results in a a looser band which may require more fill. I don't think it makes it more likely to slip though.
