Well Saturday night was my first girls night out since surgery Feb 6.

I had a GREAT time dancing and socializing...Glad I went I was getting cabin fever and getting caught up in my head that I would have problems and not enjoy myself..I was so wrong! The best part of the evening was fitting into my little black dress after the original dress I was to wear was to BIG! Whoo who...

Yaaaay! Good for you!!

I've been rummaging through my box of "smaller size clothing," and surprised myself to find that some smaller things fit, and others most definitely do not. My mom says I'm starting to look "lumpy." She said it happened to her (she had RnY 14 months ago) and that she'd go through phases of losing weight in one place, then another. First one area looked saggy, then it would firm up and another area would look funny. Oh, the joys of weight loss!

I went to a shopping center last night that I don't usually frequent, but got all excited when I saw they had added a new Lane Bryant. Then I was like, "oh. I guess that won't matter for long."

I'm four and a half weeks post op and mostly eat Greek yogurt. Some days food sits well and other days the food just won't stay down. It seems that if something doesn't agree with me than I throw everything up for the rest of the day except liquids. I am happy about my weight loss as I am down 50 pounds, but I am anxious to start incorporating different foods into my diet.

Fun but not so fun?

I have one of those huge plastic tubs in my room. It used to be filled with the clothes my mom outgrew when she had her surgery a year ago. I was so happy to get some new clothes!

Well... Now it's full of those clothes again, plus a bunch of my regular clothes that I'm outgrowing. It's fun to say "I can't possibly wear these baggy jeans any more!" and toss them, but then you're down to one pair of jeans. I should be happy, right?

As my slow weight loss continues, I'm down 24 pounds, just about 1/3 of the way to my goal. I'm also 7 pounds away from the lowest I've weighed in 8 years, and that's super-exciting! I hope I'll break into Onederland by the end of the month, and from there on out it's practically uncharted territory. The last time I weighed less than 198 was thirteen years ago!!!

I've sadly discovered that my pouch has no problem whatsoever with two Nestle Tollhouse freshly baked Cookies. :o I was hoping the sugar/fat content would make me violently ill and I'd never want one again. All I did was succeed in having an 1100 calorie day. I'm going to have to just flat-out swear off sweets, because they will be my undoing if I allow them back into my diet. Between the sugar and fat that often goes with them, they pack a WHALLOP of calories!

That's my update for today. Off to physical therapy! How are the rest of you doing? Check in and give us your updates!

Ok my surgery date was 2/11 I see all the big weight losses and I wonder what I am doing wrong. My beginning weight was 244 my surgery weight was 227 and now weigh 207. That is a total of 37 but only 20 since surgery. I have had a remarkably easy time no pain no problems. Other than eating healthy doesn't seem to fit in because just plain chicken is to dry so by the time you moisten it with whatever it's not as healthy as it should be. I eat very little I am sure less than 600 calories a day. Gees how do you get that big weight loss? I know I should be happy with my loss and I am but I would be happier with bigger numbers. Haha!!

I had surgery the same date and I'm down 14 pre-op plus 14 post op...I've been told 2-4 pounds is average and my loss is perfectly fine...can't tell you how to have a major loss because I haven't had one but slow and steady will get you there too!!! You're doing great keep up the good work! You're averaging 4 pounds a week which is fabulous!!!!

I've lost 50 pounds in 30 days and I wish it were going a little slower. I feel very weak and tired and can't get enough nutrition. My doctor did a metabolism test on me and it turns out that I hAve one of the highest metabolisms that one can have. But due to living with prediabetes and insulin levels that were sky high it inhibited my metabolic status and I continued to be a weight gainer regardless if my weight loss efforts. RNY surgery was my answer for success and getting my metabolism functioning properly. Now my insulin level is normal and the weight is coming off quickly but not without its share of troubles. Exhaustion and weakness are tough.

I should not be so greedy! My weight in the last 2 weeks is very slow. I knew it would slow down. You are doing great also. I don't comment much but read everyone's post. Keep up the hard work. I would rather lose slow and have plenty energy and feel good than feeling drained and week. I have no time to feel bad. Thanks!!

My surgery was 2/14 and I weighted 212 naked on that day. I am holding at 197!!!! Very frustrating. I tolerate everything but smoothies; puked two and refuse to try again. I have been taking unflavored Greek yogurt 6oz, 3 tbs unsweetened coco, and a Splenda pack. Mix it up and freeze. chocolate Greek frozen yogurt!! Great Protein and delicious. I am hoping I am just at a stall and one Friday I will wake up to a great lower number!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
