Fabulous February Post-Op's

Recommended Posts

I have to show you guys this...although from pictures seen earlier today I have absolutely NO right to complain about anything!!!

Heparin shots...those beasts are a bit zingy!

My first bandages 'fell' off after a shower today. I have the drain site (which is bruised but tiny) then 3 other incisions still covered....this is the upper most incision, just under my breast bone, it is TINY, less than a centimeter an looks awesome!!! I know the other incisions are longer but holy smokes I'm impressed with how awesome this looks!!!

Home for the first night since surgery on Valentine's Day. I have been walking, passing gas, and had two Protein Drinks today. Was unbelievable how my taste changed and the smell of Protein Powder was a bit gaggy. Tried to go off my loratab and just do tylenol, pain is still too bad.

Hello all, Finally found this forum. I'm sorry to hear everyone is having so many problems. I am truly blessed. I have had no pain, I am eating all pureed's with no problems and am going back to work tomorrow. Hating the Protein Shakes but am doing it first thing in the am so I don';t need to deal with it. 1 shake a day and the rest from food. I've been experimenting alot with the shakes and have gotten them so they are at least tolerable...I just do a shot glass of 2 ounces every 10 minutes or so. Wondering if something is wrong because I feel so good and have been able to eat jutabout anything pureed with no problems. Had 1 bad experience the 1st night of puireed...ate too fast and felt lousy...walked it off. I bought a bunch of baby spoons and it helps alot. Wishing you all the best and keep your chin up. I've lost 14 lbs since feb 8th (9 days)

Well, yesterday I did a quick run to the store with the girls (was that really only day 3 postop? What the hell was I thinking?) and it went great. Came home, no tiredness, slept like a baby. Weaning almost off of the pain pills except for Tylenol now and then. So today I feel like a champ and decide to do another little excursion. To JCP to exchange a jacket, then to the library to let my daughter pick up a book. Out and back in 30 minutes, 45 tops. Except it didn't go that way.

JCP turned into "Mom, can we just get some jeans for the dance next weekend?" then "They don't have good tees here... can we go to Hot Topic?" By the time we got to Hot Topic I had to sit down on the display areas because I was getting winded. Then the library went from "just that one book" to "do you mind if I quick check out the Manga section?" and "I'm just going to reserve these two books, okay?" with me sitting in one of the chairs. I hobbled back to the car, drove straight home, and flopped down on the couch. Total time out: 2.5 hours.

Now I'm behind on my fluids and drinking feels like a real chore. Getting nauseated for the first time. I'm catching up on fluids, but to get them all in I may have to stay up till midnight (not happening). Lesson learned: DON'T OVERDO IT.

Cecilia

I am now 6 days post op other than getting all the fluids and Protein in things are going well. No nausea and thank goodness I finally pooped today. I do have a little gas. No pain other than some headaches. I believe the key is get out and get moving. That will keep the depression at a minimum. Am I sluggish and a little weak? Yes. But I think as little nutrition I am getting that will be expected. I am not sue that's fixable yet there just is no room. I do plan to work at least a half day tommorow and I really hope that is doable. Just got to figure out the nutrition.

Today I started feeling NORMAL! Surgery was a week ago tomorrow, and all week I've had buyer's remorse. Felt crappy, emotional and just down. I am feeling better physically and mentally and can't wait to see what the future has in store!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
