Recommended Posts

I am 18 months out I have lost 170 pounds I weigh 157 I am 5'6" I am pleased where I am and if I eat more I'm afraid ill stretch my pouch I'm not sure on my calorie intake but if I had to guess I'd say about 1200 cal a day sometimes more I don't mean to complain because I wanted to lose weight but I'm ready to stop and my dr won't tell me anything because he says I'm not underweight so he is not worried but I'm ready to stop

My sister went way below her goal weight where she looks sickly. She spoke to our surgeon and he suggested that she start switching to the regular yogurt non the fat free, and go with the regular and not the light or fat free on foods. She was working out and now has stopped... this has stopped her weight loss but everyone is different.

I am 5 months post-op and just reached my goal.

Started at 220 and am currently at 150. Happy to meet goal, but very concerned about losing too much. I am 55 years old, so I don't want to be rail thin. Would love to hear suggestions about maintenance.

Laurelgurl, congratulations on your weight loss, I hope I do as well as you have done. I am having my gastric bypass one week from tomorrow and I am scared. I read that you are afraid of losing too much weight and your surgeon is not too concerned at this point. I would take him at his word right now but if you continue weight loss and do not want to drop more weight I might suggest going to a dietition who specializes working with WLS patients. I already have one and she is great, she has become my right arm thru this whole process and I know I will be leaning on her more going forward. Do you have a local support group? Maybe they can help too. Good luck and congratulations again.

I am now down to 153 seems eating more only stokes my metabolism to burn more. I am just going to go with it I guess because I'm eating like a cow with several small meals a day. Yesterday I ate for lunch a Waffle House serving of grits sausage and eggs. I mixed it up and ate about half. Later I ate 1 piece of the raisin bread that came with it. For supper I had a concoction I came up with that had brown rice tomatoes cabbage sausage and corn in it and some cracklin cornbread. I would assume that is enough but I was down one pound today so who knows??? Lol I don't even care anymore if my dr is unconcerned then why should I be. I just never expected to lose so much. I feel I look like a skeleton. But anyway!!!!

Is your doctor looking at your BMI? It is surprising what a ''healthy" weight is on that chart.

He is looking at my labs and I'm not sure if he's looking at bmi or not but I'm so displeased I now weigh 145. I eat mainly what I want while watching fat and sugar that cause me to dump and my stomach only holds a little over a cup and I never stuff it. I just keep dropping weight. It's insane. But my dr assures me that I'm healthy. My husband gets upset when he hugs me because I'm starting to become boney. I would still have surgery if I had it to do over but I really wish I knew what to do to stop losing.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
