Do I need a fill?

Recommended Posts

I have only had 1 fill, and am feeling quite a bit of restriction, but I'm finding I'm now getting hungry a lot sooner than I was, even within an hour. I can't imagine being more restricted I can't eat too much now without feeling the tightness, or God forbid, it coming back up - but's what's with the hunger?

Do I need another fill?

Thanks :)

What are you eating?

That could be the problem.

If you are eating soft Proteins like eggs, cottage cheese they go through the band quicker. Hard Proteins like chicken , ground beef, fish, tuna take longer to go through the band and keep you satisfied longer. Are you eating your carbs first? Carbs first make me hungry all day long. I keep my carb intake to a bare minimum and I stay away from the bad carbs like bread, Pasta, rice..I do eat low carb crackers with cheese I get my carbs mainly from my fruits and veggies. Are you drinking during your meals or too soon afterwards? That can also push the food through the band making you hungry sooner. If you have the tightness and it coming back up I doubt you need a fill. Are you losing every week? My doctors instructions were if I was not losing for 2-3 weeks in a row and I could eat more then half of what I was eating pre band I need a fill..however he gave me a little tweak of a fill yesterday since I was down there with a friend getting her fill even though I'm still losing every week but I have noticed my appetite increasing and even eating my hard proteins I noticed I was getting hungry again sooner, so he added .9cc's to my 1.1cc's I all ready had so now I'm at an even 2 cc's.

Try focusing on what you are eating, that makes a huge difference..it could be where the problem lies.

Good Luck

Thanks, I think it might be my food choices, I've gotten in the habit of only eating soft stuff, since I've had some bad experiences with PB'ing (yuck!) and have been afraid of eating anything too solid.

I did eat 2 chicken nuggets today, and they did seem to keep me "full" longer.

And the liquids - should it really be 1/2 hr. before eating and an hour after? I haven't been too good about that.

I will try to be stricter with myself.

The hunger has baffled me, since I really haven't felt hunger for 3 months, maybe my body is just adjusting to this new way of eating??

I do drink right up until the time I'm going to eat but nothing during my meals and I wait a good hour afterwards...that makes a huge difference. Drinking to soon after or during a meal washes thefood thorugh the pouch and causes hunger quicker. Well it seems you know that you are eating soft foods which does go through quicker so try to focus on the hard Proteins and see if that helps and no drinking until an hour after your meal and you should be in good shape keeping yoursefl satisfied longer...I made the same mistakes in the beginning until I read some great advice here on the board so I'm passing it along to you..

Good Luck to you

You shouldn't be afraid to try new solid foods. Try having a little of the soft stuff and adding in something solid too. Just take tiny bites, lube it up if needed and chew well. I pb on occassion too but you have to let the band work for you too and it works its best with more solid food. Skinless chicken leg meat goes down really well for me and doesn't have too many calories. I'll eat that with a .25 cup of cottage cheese and some sliced sauteed zuchini. I enjoy a couple of ounces of meat with a small baked potato with butter and light sour cream and a little vegetable. Mix and match things. Have you used fitday to track what you are eating. Getting enough Water throughout the day makes a big difference too. Best wishes, Teresa

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
