What ya eating tonight?

The Pasta doesn't make you dump? I've been too scared to try anything like that.

The lean cuisine Mac and cheese had like 30 something carbs but it has 13 grams of Protein and a little Fiber so it subtracts out. I only eat half of it anyway so its not really that many carbs. I have a friend that had rny a week before me and she recommended it. No issues for either of us and it satisfies my Mac and cheese cravings.

I'm six weeks out and had a bad day at work. The family had food from Sonic and I had one bite of a grilled cheese and one bite of a corn dog. I really started to feel sadness creep in that my old comfort buddy is gone. Am I normal or failing?

I'm pretty sure that is totally normal :). It's not easy but we have to find new non food ways to get that happy contented feeling

Well, it's normal for us, but not normal for people who have a healthy relationship with food :/. Right after I had my lap band I had a pretty crappy event, came home ready to curl up with something yummy and realized I couldn't....and cried and cried and cried....I mourned losing my best friend for 2 solid weeks then I'd mourn again for months when something would pop up and stress me out. Eventually it does get better and I think I'm happier overall because of a healthier relationship with food.

Keep your chin up! You did good :)

Normal. But as you get further out from surgery you may notice that you don't want those comfort foods as you did before or at least I have. I'm 6 months out down from 250 to 136. I have myself on a pretty strict regimen. No Pasta, rice, potatoes, etc. the only "processed" food I eat is Special K Plus Protein. However, once a month or so I'll treat myself to a slice of pizza, popcorn, etc. last week a friend bought M&Ms for us girls at work. She said to me I know you don't eat this stuff but I got it for you anyways. Well I ate them in a couple days, didnt have a problem w them. But I think as strict as I have been on my intake, a splurge once every month or so is OK.

I'm 4 1/2 weeks out and I got adventurous. I got a Subway 6 in. Sweet Onion chicken Teriyaki Sub. I didn't eat the bread and I only got tomatoes as a topping, but it still felt decadent. I did take two tiny bites of the bread. It's the first post-op bread I've eaten. It's been about 15 minutes since I finished. So far, so good. Keeping my fingers crossed.

About 2oz grilled chicken with provolone on top (the inside of a grilled chicken sub) and about 1/4 cup fat free no sugar added coffee frozen yogurt. Definitely what I needed today. Taking it slow with the yogurt though. I haven't had anything like this yet and it's "no sugar added" not "sugar free" so I'm waiting a few minutes between bites to make sure I don't dump. Lol

My daughters took me to orange leaf which is a frozen yogurt place where you pick the yogurt and toppings u want. I was afraid also but my daughter checked the nutrional sheet online and it all had 4-6 grams of sugar an oz. I choose the white chocolate and the coconut and topped it with cashews and peanuts. I only had a bit of each. It was so good but I am so afraid of dumping that I really didnt enjoy it. I stopped way before I was full just cuz of fear! ;) it was a little treat tho!

Thank God I had my last one in Nov of 05. Do not miss my emotional bitchieness. My monthly was two weeks straight and I craved carbs the whole time.

I LOVE not getting my monthly. It's the only really good thing about getting older. :-)

I had..a piece of bacon broken in bits with Tomato slices and laid between 2 pieces of toast. The most amazing meal I've had since surgery. Tolerated it well and was surprised.

Yeah... When I looked, a cup of it only had 5grams of sugar. I tolerated it very well. Still kept it under 1/4 cup though. Trying to teach myself that I CAN enjoy food, just in moderation. So far it's working and I get satisfaction out of just tasting something instead of stuffing myself silly. Lol

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
