SO ... FINALLY I AM SO EXCITED..

I TALKED TO DR'S OFFICE TODAY AND I AM ALL SET INSURANCE WISE! WHAT A RELIEF!

I also got a chest x-ray and echo cardio thing and my ticker is working just fine. so physically cleared by my pcp today.

Tomorrow am I am going to have lower untrasound for clots and my gall bladder and then i will know i am healthy and no medical issues to prevent surgery!

Finally:clap2:

I also got the kick in the butt that I needed to get motivated again. Someone I don't care to see was going to my aerobics class so now I have to work extra hard to look great, because I can't let anyone look better than me RIGHT?

Also, I went to my stepmom's to get a salad and I walked in and her and my stepsister told me how great I looked and asked how much weight I lost! SOMEONE FINALLY NOTICED how hard I have been working!

So, on a mad mission and feeling the best I have felt about me in a very long time... just no pics please.

I hope everyone is having a good day too, I know I needed it!

Hi Julz,

I have just read your posts, and I am deeply sadened by your loss, I know your son is always with you most days...but to lose your baby must have been one of the most harrowing experiences any human being can go through in their life.

I also truely hope your health will get better too in time after this op, and your pains in your joints ease up,and your other conditions will improve.

Im also having surgery the same day as you on the 2nd, I'm kinda getting a bit obessive about it all now, my surgery time is 2pm whats yours?

Sara x

Thank you Sara....I appreciate your kind words. I hope this will help with my health issues also. I have been in a major depression for a lot years now. When I do lose weight those issues start to lessen. Then something throughs me back into it. If I could get one thing under control (my weight) then I feel like I can get back on track with other things.

My surgery is scheduled for 1 pm. They said to be at the hospital at 10am just in case someone is canceled.

Thanks again.

Congrats Jenn~ what a great feeling to know insurance is on your side.

Maziemommy~We can do it. Lets help each other move forward. I am motivated again...however at a turtles pace. But, I'm going to do it. I have too. I have not other choice.

We are all going to do it. I agree it's time to move to the positive and look forward to little black dresses, swimming suits, fun in crowds of people, and Lots and Lots of Pictures of US!!!!!!!

Does the pre-op diet get easier as time goes? I had to put my self to bed for an hour, just to avoid taking frustrations out on DH.

I'm allowed one small, sensible meal per day-week 1, (all liquids week 2). dinner time gets earlier every day!! mon. 7:15p.m. tues. 6;05 p.m. tomarrow......maybe NOON!!!!!!

GOOD LUCK TO ALL IN APRIL.......AND MARCH!!!!

Ohhh I am SOOOO jealous of all of you who are having insurance cover their bands!! GRRRRR!!!!

I think I'm going to make a pay pal account where ya'll can donate to my cause. Or at least help me find a suitable brown box to live in. =) Just kidding.

The money thing is REALLY hard for me right now. It's just eating me alive when I think about giving up school for the band. I'm not doing that... but I'm not all too sure where the finances for my senior year are going to come from... I'm trying to just let go of it and trust that things will work out the way that they are supposed to.

Julz, my dad died very unexpectedly when I was a senior in high school so I can certainly empathize. But to lose a child... you are a fierce woman to have survived that and still see hope and goodness in the world.

Sorry I was absent for a few days... March is audition month for all the summer shows... it's been a little nutty!

With love, Sheila

Sheila

I am greatful that I have insurance that will cover it, but since I lost my job last July, I have been paying for cobra - and just about the only reason is because of the surgery. I was not sure what I was doing so I didn't pay my first cobra payment until January but had to backdate, so I've already paid over $2500 and it is only March!

Better than $13,000 but I am living on unemployment - I so need a job!

Plus, I have been working on this for a year and 2 months from start to finish because of Insurance, LOL...

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
