Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Recommended Posts

that is way cool, so today was my hungriest day and I ate the most I've eaten and a much bigger variety and guess what - still only had 1093 calories and 74g of Protein.

i'm going to start tracking daily and compare to my weight loss and see if i can figure out what i'm doing and not doing

I have done the same -- due to getting frustrated after not losing weight for weeks. I have found when I get my daily liquids in (64oz ++); and get 100+gr of Protein and keep Carbs < 70 gr and have 1000ish calories I lose 1 lb. that day --- or so this has been true for the last 5 days.

Good Luck!!!!!!

I have a weird question, does anyone else have very bubbly saliva? And what in the world causes it? I feel like an alien has invaded my body with strange noises, and strange new things going on! I was banded April 11 and have lost about 27 pounds since March 5. I never post but read all of your comments every day and have found it very helpful. Congratulations to all and your weight loss journey.

No bubbly salive here but the strange noises and things that sound and feel like they are mushing around... yup have those for sure.

So, I just went into the attic to get fans, I refuse to put a/c's in this early, and brought down all my smaller clothes, size 16 & 18. I forgot some of the stuff in there. SO I FIT INTO THE SIZE 18!!!!! they don't look fantastic in my belly, stupid c-section but they fit and zipped without having to lie down! I am missing my most favorite cut off shorts so I assume I might have 1 more bag of clothes up there, but they have been up there for 4 years, without a thought of even taking them down!

What a great way to end the day

Lots of encouraging things going on!! Way to go girls!!!!!! I also got into a fave pair of jeans I haven't worn in 2 years. We are all obviously making progress....bandster hell or NO bandster hell!! AWESOME!!

Keeping track of your calories is really essential, i believe. It helps to keep you accountable and in control. Whenever I've stopped keeping track you can bet money that is the time I started gaining. So good for all of you who are doing so! www.fitday.com and www.dailyplate.com are both excellent. I like fitday's nutrition reporting for keeping track of all aspects of nutrition, but I like dailyplate's wide variety of brand-name listings.

KITY - yes, the trainer is fairly expensive....$40/30-min session. So right now I'm paying $180/month for gym & training. BUT, it will be vital in keeping me motivated and accountable. These are my two biggest issues with staying on track. Keep in mind that I'm also self-pay for surgery which is an incredible investment as well....so I'm just trying to walk the walk...y'know? All new patterns. This is a new life and I have new priorities and I MEAN IT THIS TIME DAMMIT!!!! My goals from the beginning have been to be FIT and TRIM and for once in my life I AM GOING TO REACH THIS GOAL. NO IF'S AND'S OR BUT'S. JUST WATCH ME! I am woman, hear me ROAR!!

Terry~ I love it!!! You are investing in yourself...and you deserve it! I paid $6000 for my band, and also need to be motivated and accountable. How has it been since the fill? What/how much are you eating? Sorry for the questions, but like I said, your the pioneer. Good for you and the investment w/ the gym. I figure we'd probably spend the $$ on something else anyway, why not on something that is this important. I HAVE NO DOUBT YOU WILL DO IT GIRL!!!!!!!

Pamela, Thanks for the vote of confidence! Things are going real well with my fill that I had a week ago. Not too tight, not too loose, can eat without problems and losing a bit of weight...well, we'll continue to see about that last part....but I have no complaints so far. My calories are at about 1000/day. Right on target. Oh, and my meals are holding me for 3-4 hours, just like they're supposed to!

Good Morning, fellow Violets..

I'm sitting here eating my scrambled egg and cheese and waiting for grandson Ethan to arrive. I have him til 1 today and it's a beautiful day so he and I will go "strolling" and I'll get my exercise in for the day. Plus I'll head to Curves this afternoon. I had a little slice of meatloaf for supper last night along with some green Beans and a couple of tsps. of mashed sweet potatoes. I was comfortably full for the rest of the evening. Got to watch my Pistons win yet another game so life is very good here! Hope everyone has a great day!!

Good morning everyone!

I got a graduation ivitation in the mail with a quote on it I thought I would share with everyone.

"It's true we don't know what we've got until we lose it, but it's also true that we don't know what we've been missing until it arrives."

I love that!! I am going to tape it to my mirrors in the house.

Hello everybody!!

Teachlady...love the hair do...very interesting!! And I too can see a difference in you now from your avatar pics!!

Laura...touching story, and sad. Especially when you see you were only a little girl!!

There are a lot of issues & things we didn't know about bubbling to the surface. I said it before about how our unhappiness affects those around us...we will all gain insight at one point on this journey how someone else close to us had a struggle related to our own!!

I have too dwelled before on why I got fat growing up and my DS didn't!! I remember being in slimming classes with my mam & her friends at the age of 10 and weight watchers as a teen. Certainly didn't help my self esteem as I was the only kid there and felt embarrassed especially that my piers would find out!! Hence began my yoyo THAT young. I often wonder if I hadn't started dieting that young would my first adult attempt have been successful? Or would I have naturally lost some or most of the fat growing into a young woman!

When I was a teen I use to hide & turn around photos that included me in our house, I couldn't stand to look at my confirmation photos especially..That's when I learnt to hate myself..I HATED those photos, they were like my cryptonite, I was utterly repelled by them!!

Hence began my lifelong game of dodge with the camera. At one point I would actually be so aggressive towards anyone trying to take my photo it bordered on phobia!!! My GOD...there are not a lot of photos of me very overweight coz I wouldn't allow it. Anytime I lost weight it was different I was happy to join in & pose!! But because of the Confo pics, my fat pics are a rarety in our family collection!! It's a little bit funny though, there are parts of my documented photo life missing..years at a time then I pop up again smiling!!! (for a while)

One thing I'm happy about is that for my wedding I was happy with my size & my photo's are beautiful. I can always cherish them...I don't have to deal with being ashamed of them!! THAT would have been an issue for me. So THANK GOD for that!!

KITY....oh yeah with the new drawers!! LOL

Everyone else.....have a greater day than you had yesterday!!

OMG you mean I am not the only one who felt, feels this way? I still hate myself and run from the camera.

Bubbly Saliva- YES. I have this when I am having my own version of PB. If I eat too fast, and I gulp my Water, and it all 'comes up', I have saliva in there that is really bubbly. Dunno why?

Lunasa- Well, if it makes you feel any better about the situation, I personally don't think the yo-yo dieting would have been different if you started later in life. If you yo-yo diet, there's something else underlying, and I doubt it's that you dieted before.. does that make sense? I didn't start dieting until I was 17.. despite being a big girl, it didn't bother me until my back started hurting and making me cripple (at 17)-and it's been yo-yo dieting ever since.

And now.. good morning everyone!!! Today is a happy day for me right off the bat. Haven't done laundry since like April 20th, so I'm down to the clothes I don't want to wear.. Since I lamented about clothes not feeling different yet I had to update that!:clap2:

I wore my comfy gauchos (sp?), which are really baggy and have no shape anymore.. normally tight and make me look like I have a butt. And a button-down girly white work shirt.. it's normally fitted and accents my gargantuous boobs and gives me some sort of hips (my figure is not very curvy except for the boobs). I'm sure most of you can imagine how this shirt USE to fit.. it's a 'good' tight IMO. Looks nice and feminine. Well.. not anymore! :huytsao Woohooo!

Now it's shapeless and hangs off of me. Even the sleeves, I rolled them up since it's 90 outside, and I can't keep them rolled up.. not tight enough. So now I've officially seen a change in how clothing fits.

And today I am at 304lb. I'm soooo close to Twoterville!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just took an interesting survery about weight loss. I believe it was through a company working for "Self" magazine. It really made me think, one of the things I just thought was a quirky thing on my part is the fact I don't like my food to touch. This survery sort of alluded to the fact that it is part of an eating disorder. I didn't have any of the other quirky things people do with their food. I was just wondering if maybe other people shared this.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
