Obsessing is one of the things that I've been doing too. It is wonderful to be online with so many other obsessives! Hugs to you all - best wishes to those recovering and those waiting, like me,

I will not fall off the pre-op diet wagon again!

I decided to eat a little "real food" during the TWO family gatherings we had over the holiday weekend, and while it felt so good to eat, man!, did I pay for it the rest of the day and night!

I had been doing so well on my pre-op diet, and the hunger had really subsided. I was averaging 900 cals per day, and losing fast. So I ate a very small amount for Easter celebrations... but every bite made me more hungry. I could have eaten the entire buffet. Not kidding. I ate very little, compared to the usual Holiday dinners, but still I ate and I was so desperately hungry the rest of the day and night... but also incredibly nausiated.

You know how on Survivor (the reality show) they starve and then win some food but then it makes thm all sick? That is how I felt Sat. and Sun.

Today, back on low-calories low-carbs high-protein (you know the drill) and I feel much better. I will not fall off the wagon again!!!! Not worth it. (First time in my life I've ever said that about food!)

Hey Gina - we have the same sugery date! My Preop is high protein/low fat with one Liquid Protein Meal Replacement. I don't know about afterward, but I have been on a liquid diet before and it is the easiest thing in the world. You don't really have to deal with food, it was such a relief to a consumptive person like me. Perhaps this will be your experience too. I did kinda go crazy on the SF popsicles.

Oh well. Best wishes to you and hope to hear how you are doing!

Hi everyone,

Sara- Your work schedule sounds grueling. It is hard to eat and exercise when you have to work a crazy schedule. I have little coolers I used for my preop diet to tote around w/ me, using ice packs. But the exercise is harder to work around. It is not too bad waking at 4:30, as long as I am not up past 9pm on the LBT site, lol!

I went to the movies today and brought in my Protein shake for lunch. The smell of popcorn didn't even bother me. I was wondering how many calories are my post op buddies consuming each day. I just went in to blend my Turkey Pot Pie Soup (sooooo yummy) and calculated that I had only 435 calories all day. I made my Soup and was only able to drink about 1/3 of a small coffee cup. I know I will have some more about 8 or 9 before bed. That would put my calorie intake about610 for the day. Amazing. I used to have 2 Breakfast sandwiches(i won't say which ones for all my friends on the preop diet) from Mc D's, which I think is about 1500 calories, and that was just the beginning.

Please let me know what you guys are consuming. Am I getting too much or enough? I feel ok about it, just want to check w/ others.

Thanks, Pamela

Banded 5 Days & Feeling Good!

Thanks to everyone for the positive posts and PMs the past couple of days. Today I am feeling MUCH better. I am totally off the pain meds and got some more Protein in my diet which made me feel instantly better. I even followed Terri's lead and tried some fish - although I did process mine in my magic bullet first.

:) I am soooo glad to be over the naseua, that was the pits! Glad to be moving forward with better things!

Hello all! I wanted to wish all of the folks above the best! I will probably not be able to post again until I get back Sunday evening/Monday morning.

I am in the process of packing up stuff for the kids so we can take them to my Mom's tomorrow evening. They'll all four be staying with her while we are gone (she may need more prayer than us...:nervous ). Hubby and I are going to take them out and spend the day together as a family tomorrow then leave them at Mom's house.

We'll be leaving for the airport at about 5am (Eastern Standard Time) Wednesday morning and will arrive in Monterrey at about 2pm (noon their time). We'll be going straight to the doctor's office for pre-op testing then to the hotel. Surgery will be Thursday morning...

I'm nervous AND excited. It seems like I've been waiting SO LONG to do this. Every once in a while, I have doubts that I am doing the right thing, but the doubts always center around stuff like "well, you know you'll never get to eat that again," so, call me a fanatic if you wish, but I believe it is satan trying to defeat me...Food will not rule my life any longer...it's time to have some self-control and do what is right!!!

As far as the pre-op diet goes, I'm finishing up my 7th full day of liquids and as long as I get my Protein shakes (ready-to-drink EAS AdvantEDGE - 3x a day), I really don't have an appetite. Mealtimes when I have to feed the kids are hard, but I fix their plates and leave the kitchen and find something else to do while they eat.

Well, sorry for the long post...I'll check in as soon as possible!!!

Pamela - you can go to my LBT journal and watch my calories, etc....I have them posted there and probably will be for sometime. I cut and paste them from www.fitday.com where I track all that stuff. I am trying to get my calories UP to 1000-1200 but haven't made it yet. I am sure it will get easier once I get to regular foods again. I'm finding it really hard to get the Protein in 'cause I'm not loving the shakes.

Had to resort to pain meds again today. Incisions/Stitches were quite painful all day. DD and I had laughed REALLY HARD at a television show we were watching last night, which hurt quite a lot, and I actually feel like that didn't help matters. So take note pre-banders...only watch not-funny stuff. Also, do whatever you have to do to avoid sneezing! OMG!!

Panda - You are gonna be one foxy chick (what can I say, I'm a child of the 70's) when you drop that weight, 'cause you're already sooo pretty!! Oh, to be 25 again!! I'm glad for you that you're getting this done now.

All of you who are yet to be banded: Try your best to put your anxieties aside and trust me when I say that this surgery is really not that hard at all. You will all do just fine. That's a promise.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
