I live by myself. Do you guys think I'll need round the clock help for a few days? I'd much rather stay home, but I could plan to stay at my moms if you guys think it's needed

I think that's more or less a person to person situation. I know if my wife didn't take time off of work that I would have struggled. I wouldn't have been capable of taking care of my daughter. I'm 6 days post-op now and I'm still having difficulties bending and lifting light objects. I would at least stay with someone for a few days, and if you're feeling better, you can always go home. Best of luck.

Yes. I would stay with someone. I was for the most part ok especially since I had a recliner and bathroom on the same floor. I just know I was pretty weak and I was glad to just have someone there. Good luck

My husband and daughter was a God send. My recovery would have not been so successful if not for their support. Stay with someone you will need that support.

God is always on my side. I say this because I'm a very strong woman. I have done everything alone. Had 3 csections same day of discharge on all 3 I was making dinner taking care of the babies. After gastric by pass the next day after discharge I was food shopping. Lifting the grocery my daughter did it but I was walking slowly but didn't struggle at all. This doesn't mean anyone is weak it only means its not impossible to do things on your own. I can't count on my husband and that's ashamed. I do wish he was more supported & helpful but he feels the only responsibility he has is to work & pay all the bills which he does so god made me extra strong because I basically only have my 15 year old to lean on if I needed her help which she never refuse to help me out. If I'm sick she takes care of her siblings & makes me Soup. I'm so glad I have my teenager.

Unfortunately I didn't have any help when I first got home, but I also experienced a burst of energy upon being at home and was able to take care of myself. When family arrived home in the evening I allowed them to wait on me so I could get my strength for the following day. It worked out in the end for me. Family was as helpful as they could be and at least kept up the home by doing laundry and cleaning. I mostly did little things while they were gone to have an excuse to get up and walk for a while. Worked for me. Everyone is different, do what you feel is right!

I really think a couple of days at your Mom's might be a good idea. And then you will feel great getting back into your own home and routine. But let Mom take care of you for a couple of days. I am sure you could manage fine on your own, but why chance it if you don't have to. Espeically with the holidays and everything. Just don't let them wait on you too much you still need to get up and walk around the house and remember to keep getting the liquids in.

I too think you should stay at your mom's. I'm day 6 post op. and can't bend over to pick up anything on the floor. That being said if my pants /underwear fall too low after getting off the hopper, I could not bend to grab them. Those incision sites are sore.

My mom and dad came and stayed with me and it was a huge help! It's also nice just in case you need help. It was also kinda of nice getting pampered for a few days!

I thought I would be fine by myself but I ended up needing help for a few days. Also, for me it was an emotional time and it was nice to have someone there to talk to and offer support.

It's better to be safe then sorry when people dont need help that is great more power to them but a couple of days after surgery would be ok, and if you feel like i can go home after a day or two then do so.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
