Surgery Without Telling Anyone?

Recommended Posts

My husband and my doctor right now are the only ones who know that I am planning RNY surgery in April 2013. My husband had it 6 yrs ago and regrets telling so many people he did it. Is is even feasible to think I could do this without telling anyone? Not even my parents?? Anyone do it and not tell anyone??

I'm hoping to do the same--not tell anyone except for a select few of supportive people... Good luck to you :)

Yes... it can be done. I only told my sister, my 2 BFF's and 3 people in work with one being my boss. Your business is YOUR business.. you don't have to tell anyone!! In my opinion... the less people you tell the better off you are. When people say "wow you lost weight you look good", I say thank you :) if they ask how am I doing it I say diet and exercise.

I told my BF hubby and only once the surgery was scheduled my mom. No one else in my family knows. I did not even tell my boss. It can be done. :-).

My husband and my mom are the only ones that know i had it done. I had my gallbladder removed at the same time. so when people ask about my weight loss i just tell them i had my gallbladder removed and now there is food i cant eat plus i gave up sugar cause of family history of diabetes.

I don't feel the need to tell anyone.... Except u all lol. Only because people r so judgmental and I don't have time for that mess. Also because I no they will start telling me all the reasons as to y I shouldn't do it. Like someone said, once u start losing the weight and they ask how, I will say I started watching what I was eating and exercise, because that would be the truth.

I did not feel the need to broadcast it! I have not for any other medical procedure so it would be unlike me. It a change and I make lots of them and in this area I have not have had as much success as I would like. So, till I have that and know that i can be successful I will be working with this support. The support of people who really get the challenges of not having seccess at other weightloss and saying this is for me!

Thanks everyone! I am down 6 lbs in just two weeks as I have begun following a 1200 cal plan and am religiously walking 30 min each day on the treadmill. I guess the surgery will just be a continuation of my weight loss!! Keeping my lips zipped!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
