Had my 6 month check up! My Dr said I was doing great and ahead of schedule which was a surprise for me because I thought I was behind cause of all my stalls! Labs seems fine but B12 and vit d was high. He said all the stalls could be from my body trying to catch up. I fluctuate 5lbs due to Fluid build up. Off all my meds I took befote the surgery except my Fluid pill every once in awhile. My kids and husband say I am such a happier person now and wabting to go and do more stuff with them. Even though my husband is jealous of the looks I'm getting now. Shoot I didn't even notice I was getting them. Lol I have lost some friends because I am not the "fat friend" anymore. My daughter said to me the other day "Wow Mom your teeth are so white and pretty" "What did you do to them?" I laughed and told her nothing. I just smile more now and no one ever noticed my smile before I guess! I am so thankful yo have had this surgery and this site with all of you! I am truly blessed

OMG, that is so great. Very proud of your success. As we all know, if they didn't stick by you they weren't truly your friends. Great News!!!!

My sixth month check up is actually during my 7th month. So July 11, I will find out about my labs and I'm so interested in finding them out. I think I've been getting dehydrated, I drink but it just doesn't seem like enough. Some morning I wake up w HBP. Not good.

Need your help here: stalled, but the worst part is my overwhelming desire to snack in the evening. Just a couple months ago I had to force myself to eat-now I have to force myself to stay away. I know better and am super frustrated... I am so scared of gaining weight! I've lost over 75lbs before having WLS and gained 45 of them back, I really don't want that to happen again after all I've been through. Since. Surgery I'm down 52lbs and still have along way to go. Obviously I'm freaking out. :(

Make sure your tracking what you eat on My fitness pal. Maybe if you see how much your snacking, you may try harder. Also exercise is a big one as well. I've slacked on exercise, but I've got to get myself back in there. Good luck and hopefully you can figure out the stall.

Thanks for the tips. I do exercise daily (walking is my main mode since my knee injury) and track on MFP. I always seem to stay below my allotted 900 calories but you're right-the snacking has to stop/slow. I bought some healthier snack choices tonight and made sure anything non-veggie/fruit had low sugar and a good Protein content. Hoping that will help. :)

Hi everyone, haven't been on for a long time but continue to receive updates on my smartphone, since I subscribed to the thread. I've been doing great. Enjoying every positive outcome, regarding the surgery. Enjoying my new life and all the health benefits the surgery has given back to me. Glad to hear that others are doing well on their journey. I no longer dwell on the numbers and don't discuss my totals anymore. I said more than anything I wanted my health back. When others ask how much I lost, I remind them that it is all about how I feel. Looking at me also speaks volumes as to the amount of weight lost, so I don't discuss my "numbers." Everything is normal and going as planned including the Hair loss (lol). Couldn't be more thrilled (and keeping hair short)! Continued successes to all of you!

Still having issues from hysterectomy and starting, actually starting is long over with. I'm so sick n tired of it.

I am at 140 now. Size 6 pants, small tops. Thankfully I only lost 1 cup size. I was worried about that loss. I'm having difficulty eating dinner at night. With stress and all, I'm just not hungry. I get all the Protein in each day, could do better on Water. Monday I have my 6 month follow-up and am worried how my lab work results will turn out.

On the ex note, still fighting they lawyers. He drained our 401k. He is remarried, yippee for him cuz I'm done caring. I have sole legal and physical custody of my daughter. He lost all rights to her. The courts gave her the authority as to her having contact w him. Exactly what I wanted, so that's good. He can't see her or talk to her unless she contacts him. I'm happy she was given the control. Ex owes me over 30,000 with what he stole out of the 401k. Plus 11,000 in back support. Also 3 months of 1/2 his retirement checks. I can't believe this is the man I was married to. It is just unimaginable what he has done and is doing!!! Not sure if I will ever see a dime of what he owes. He's also hiding assets, which my lawyer knows about. I can't believe how messy this has become. It is so much unneeded stress.

As for my personal life: my friend from HS and I are doing very well. Even though it is a long distance relationship til he moves up here, we video chat, text, and call all the time. Who knew I would find someone that I was such good friends with over the years for most of my life. I loved him as a friend and only feel it getting greater. I pray that he's the one. My true friend becoming my true love. He is my dream come true. He says I'm his too. He told me I should have told him about my feelings for him years ago. I wanted to but just couldn't.

I hope everyone is doing well in your personal lives as well as health wise. You all have become good friends and thank you for your support thru everything I have been thru these last 7 months and pray for me that this issue with the ex will finally have an ending soon. <3 :-)

Surgeons office called, have to cut back on 2 of my Vitamins. B12 and Calcium. They were both high on my blood test. Calcium i guess is from the cheese and yogurts and Protein Drinks i drink. Actually hadnt been taking the calcium like i should. Go figure. And i was taking the sub lingual B 12 5000 mgs guess i will take every other day and then when i am out of this bottle i will get the normal 1000 mgs. Anyone else have this? Also my AC1 is 5.5 that is so awesome!! Almost off all my meds. Yay!

Hey Everyone! It's been awhile since I've given you all an update but I thought I'd check in. I'm currently down 91lbs, with 50 to go til goal. I'm happy to say that my dr is weaning me off of my blood pressure meds finally, and the majority of the pills I take now are vitamins!!

I'm still not counting calories or any food at all, just making sure I eat lots of Protein and hardly any carbs. With my body adjusting to the changes in my kidneys (they've gotten a little better!) I can drink more fluids now, so I'm focusing more on getting in as much Water as I can.

The hardest thing for me is still not drinking with my meals. I usually take a sip or two after I eat to rinse my mouth out, but sometimes that leads to more. I gotta curb that!

Exercise-wise, I still don't get in as much as I'd like, although my energy level is starting to come back now that I'm taking regular epogen shots for my anemia. I'm up to walking 2 miles at a time when I do now, and next week I'm going to start running... maybe lol I'm very concerned about my "top shelf" bouncing around and hurting, even though I've invested in really good sports bras.

My husband is verrrrrryyy happy with the curves I have now and can't seem to keep his hands off of me lol He didn't really seem to care if I lost the weight or not in the beginning but he's obviously glad I did! lol

I hope you all are doing wonderfully and are enjoying your new lives! Hi5's & Hugs all around!!

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
