So over the last couple weeks I reconnected w a very long time friend from school. Back then he thought I was out of his league' date=' I guess due to me being a cheerleader, smart, he says absolutely beautiful. He has always loved my smile and eyes.. I liked him a lot back in the day and was too shy to admit. But he was one of my best friends in school. We have been talking a lot lately and I am flying to GA at the end of the month to see him again. First time seeing him in 22 yrs.

I'm so excited, very nervous. He was a marine for 20 years and I always followed him to make sure he was ok. He didn't know that but I worried about him every time war heated up. I had his contact info a few times over the years but never contacted him. I think I was too scared, chicken.< /p>

Good news is he has felt the same for me. In a few (3-4) months he just might be moving back home. God I've missed him over the years and even though we actually reconnected as friends 7 or a couple more years ago, he has always been in my heart and timing was never right. Now it is for both of us. I'm so scared. We have been great friends for at least 26 years. Any thoughts or opinions. I've always loved him (but only as a friend cuz i didn't know he wanted more as I did) and missed him and always wanted more. He does too. Seems the feeling is mutual.

That's awesome!! I am so happy for you...they say that the greatest love comes from being the greatest friends first. Everything happens for a reason and at the time when it is supposed to. Don't be scared, be confident and beautiful and have fun. I wish the best for you :-)

I'm losing a great deal f hair......Any advise? I take 10000 units of Biotin a day. Try to remember the Calcium and have increased my Protein. I would like to have my hair done' date=' just not sure if it can handle it.[/quote']

I asked about the Hair loss when I was going through it. I was told not much can do about it except for upping protein. I ended up raising protein to 90-100g a day for about a month. Now I don't or try not to get less than 80g a day.

I'm going through it too, driving me crazy. I was told to make sure my protein was between 64-80 and take biotin. I started increasing my biotin, am taking calcium as well as my Vitamins, and just recently started taking zinc because I heard from another WLS patient who's on here and MFP that's what was told to do.

I take biotin too, I believe it is 10,000mcg. I always have taken calcium. One in the morn and one at night. What zinc I get is in my Multivitamin. But it took about 2 months for the Hair loss to stop.

:( i've been bad...

I can't believe it has been 6 months already! i just had my 6mo. follow up and all my labs are great... which comes as quite a shock because i have to admit i've been absolutely terrible with taking my vitamins... i mean terrible! shame on me, but i haven't taken ANY in about 3 months...so i went in fully prepared to get lectured, but instead they told me how great i was doing... this actually scares me because obviously if i'm absorbing all my nutrients the other bad stuff is being absorbed as well :( but i guess its good that i'm getting the nutrients... weight wise i am down 82lbs as of this morning, so i'm happy for that! I was really excited when I was finally 199 and now i'm just shy of the 170's! its unreal and now my goal weight doesn't seem like such a far off dream! Although now i really need to start working at it... and again, there are so many ways i've been a failure at this because I have not been working out... I really need to start i just haven't found the motivation and now that my weight loss is slowing down (nearly halting as i've only lost 2lbs since june 1) i'm really regretting not having that workout routine down by now... anyone have any tips?!

i know that the routine of everything is what is going to be key for success and maintenance and i never want to go back to where i was before! i guess i need to be logging on here more often to get inspired...

Don't look at the was you feel you have failed. Think about the things you have overcome. Let your accomplishments help you get into some type of workout, even if its just starting to walk after dinner, before work, on lunch. Take stairs instead of elevators, just small steps like that will help. Throw out the negative and in with what you've done well (the positive).

I'm 15 lbs from goal weight and stalled. I guess that's ok. I've had a lot of stress still dealing w the ex and trying to get my stuff he stole back. As well as the rest of our other things settled, who gets what. He's dragging his feet. He says I've got my divorce so why do I need to get this other stuff done. He is officially engaged to the woman that broke up his 22 yr marriage. All I have to say is good luck w that one, lol.

I have rediscovered an old friendship, love or I guess you could say he was a crush being neither of us could admit feelings back then in HS and we remained friends. We have communicated briefly throughout the years but feelings never came up until I was divorced and he's in the process. He unfortunately lives out of state. Many text and phone calls are being made and will continue to be until he moves back in the fall time. He's one of the good men, thankfully.

Had my 6 month check up! My Dr said I was doing great and ahead of schedule which was a surprise for me because I thought I was behind cause of all my stalls! Labs seems fine but B12 and vit d was high. He said all the stalls could be from my body trying to catch up. I fluctuate 5lbs due to Fluid build up. Off all my meds I took befote the surgery except my fluid pill every once in awhile. My kids and husband say I am such a happier person now and wabting to go and do more stuff with them. Even though my husband is jealous of the looks I'm getting now. Shoot I didn't even notice I was getting them. Lol I have lost some friends because I am not the "fat friend" anymore. My daughter said to me the other day "Wow Mom your teeth are so white and pretty" "What did you do to them?" I laughed and told her nothing. I just smile more now and no one ever noticed my smile before I guess! I am so thankful yo have had this surgery and this site with all of you! I am truly blessed

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
