I had a drain for the whole tone was in the hospital. It was kinda weird and just a little sore nothing that was unbearable. pulling it out hurt a bit but was very quick and was right before I went home so I wax excited to be leaving and the pain did not last. You will do great I am a week out and I would do it all again. Hope that helps

I just drank 10 ounces of magnesium citrate and am waiting for it to take effect. Tomorrow is the big surgery day - my first real surgery in my life. I am nervous but going through with it. Reading your posts about post-surgery makes me feel better because it helps me understand what to expect. Did you have to have a surgical drain? How long did you have to wear it?

I had my drain from surgery date (Monday) through Saturday. As soon as the drain was out, I felt much better, I didn't have much pain to begin with, but it was just having to lug that thing around and pin it up into shirts was a bit of a drag. I asked my Doctor as to why some doctors don't use it, and some take it out before one leaves the hospital and why he leaves his in so long. He said he leaves his in longer so he can monitor the color of the drained Fluid, to make sure that there is no infection and that way he can catch it sooner than the person getting sick. so that eased my mind about it and I was happy to have it! :)

Thanks for the insights about the drain. It sounds like a good idea to have one, though info not look forward to it.

Hey everyone, I'm 3 weeks post op today and I'm struggling really bad with my Vitamins and Protein Shakes. I feel so tired. My hubby is not able to come home after work because being a marine he is now in the field for a month and I'm alone dealing with 4 kids ages 7,6,2 and almost 7 months. I don't regret the surgery at all. I'm just tired and want to get my vits and shakes in. Thanks for letting me vent.

I am sorry that you are having a hard time! Thank you for sharing your husband with our nation that can't be easy :) the only thing I can suggest is that I keep a journal on one side of the page I put all the vitamins and check off when I take them and then on the other side I put food and Water to make sure I get it all in. I write down what time I need to do them.

Thanks so much. I'm going to start writing everything. Thanks for the advice. Does your vitamins or Protein gives you a bad taste?

I'm just trying to keep eating, drinking and exercising and hoping it will pass VERY soon lol! I hear it is hormones...wow do I dread the change later in life if this is what it'll be like hahahaha!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
