Hey worm and and everyone ....

I'm watching all these YouTube videos on Rny complications... Now I'm really nervous... I'm scared ...

What are the chances of someone coming home with a tube coming out their stomached?

Seeing complications vs hearing them are 2 different things....

My drain was removed before I left the hospital, but I have a friend who went home with 2 for a week - that was normal postop for her surgeon. I do have an incision that got infected, it's been a pain. My surgeon had to reopen it a week after my surgery and I've had to keep it open by packing it so it can drain. It's been open for 2 weeks. I think this is a minor complication, more frustrating than anything.

Everything is going ok except for the incision. Hopefully it will heal soon. My surgery was Oct 1st. Have started soft foods this last week, eager to progress to more variety. Good luck to everyone with November dates!

Yes, my BF came home with a tube for about a week. Again common for her surgeon.

I'm in HR and I always tell people plan for the worst hope for the best. I pray we are all blessed and have easy surgeries (most do) but you should try to have a back up plan if you have to stay home or in the hospital longer. Also, a lot of trouble (at least with the folks I personally know) had come from pushing to much or not following dr orders. Be safe and don't look at those videos! :-).

I know it's so weird how I've waited a whole year to be approved and now that its real I'm super scared not to freak anyone out but dose anyone know death rate some people say 1-50 which I think is crap others say 1-200 and then 1-1500 who the hell is telling the truth because I am really freaking out!!!! I have 5 kids so I'm just trying to get some real answers plus I'm in Scottsbluff Nebraska and my surgeon has done more lap/bands than any other hospital in Colorado,Wyoming ect. But it dose not say much about bypass I know he's done Beriatric surgery sience the 80s and had an award for banding but the hospital it's self has a crappy reputation ;(

Hey Hun

I *think* my Surgeon said it was 3% world wide - he hasnt killed anyone in his 1400 surgeries, so its quite low when done laproscopically. You should raise your issues with your surgeon and they'll be able to give you details, cos hell you have to trust the person cutting into you!

It is a bit scary but I think the odds of me losing a leg because of diabetes is a lot more likely then dieing with this surgery, that is what i Keep telling myself. That right now I am not much good to anybody, so getting this surgery is kinda my last hope to have some good years left to enjoy my grandchildren and to make sure my 2 special needs children are set up independently. I have to be better, I just have to be.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
