Chunky usually your insurance is canceled as of the day you quit. Some policies give you 30 days. You can call the insurance company and

Ask so that you can be better informed before making that decision.

So I was under the impression my surgeon usually gives pre op diets only two days before sugery but only to some patients. I wasn't informed that I would be on one. I assumed that I probably wouldn't be on it and if I did it would be for a few days. I got paper work and I will be on one for a week. I'm not thrilled but really I have been trying to incorporate protien shakes into my day anyway. This will be a challenge because it is a liquid only diet. I feel like I can do it but because it's before surgery I can just imagine that I will be hungry all the time. So I need 3 or 4 protien shakes a day and as many low cal no more than 10 calories for 8 oz drinks with no carbs as I want. I can also do clear broth, sugar free popcicles and Jello. Just wanted to let you guys that are on one your not alone. :)

I've been on the pre-op diet for a week and have one more to go. The first day is the hardest. I do get some real food, so it's a bit easier than all liquid, but just keep your eye on the prize. Try to remember why your doctor has you doing it and when you feel hungry, drink more. My nutritionist told me if I got hungry, just eat/drink more Protein - even if it was more than my daily plan. Of course, you need to follow your doctor's program, but as long as you are consuming protein (instead carbs), you should be fine. You can also bulk up your Protein Shakes by blending them with ice. Good luck! It will be so worth it!!

Thanks for the encouraging words! Your so right on about the pay off on the end. Fingers crossed that GNC still has Isopure buy one get half off the second. I think I better stock up.

I have to do a ten day full liquid diet. I can only have 2 Protein Shakes a day. Not looking forward to it. I've already given up soda, sweet tea and gum. I also have to do a bowel prep the day before. Should be an interesting few weeks! Excited and nervous!!!

I hate starting this liquid diet Monday too because I've been invited to so many holiday parties. There is also a Rib challenge this weekend. I want me some ribs!.....but I want to be able to feel my own more. I think that if we can get through the liquid pre op then we will be good to go. Right now it really is looking like one of the hardest things for me. I'm just really happy to know that I'm not alone. Nobody in my day to day life can relate to my issues right now. I have an appointment with my surgeon on Friday so maybe I will find out if I have to do the bowel cleanse. I feel like I don't know what I have to do until I'm doing it right now. A have gained so much knowledge of what I may have to do from this forum it's no joke. It has been a valuable resource.

Word of caution about stocking up pre-op....A LOT of people I talked to had changes to their taste buds after surgery. Many did not like anything sweet and had to stick to the chicken Soup Protein. I went the safe, but a little more expensive right now, and bought some single-serve sample packs so I could try different flavors and brands. By far, my favorite-tasting brand has been Syntrax Nectar. They have the traditional creamy flavors, but also great ones for use with Water like lemon tea and fuzzy navel. I can literally sip protein all day using this stuff! I have heard isopure is good too, so I may check out GNC too. :-)

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
