I went for a fill yesterday, when i descibed everything to the nurse she said i needed a fill. We put back in the 1/2 CC i had removed a while ago because it was too tight.

I woke last night 3 times with acid reflux, I did not eat naything after 9:00 pm I promise and I am only on full fluids.

I know when I lay down I shut the band off completely so I try to not have anything in there before I go to bed. I thought I had achieved that last night but as I said I woke three times coughing acid.

Should I get .25 CC removed? Can it come down to .25 CC or should I just battle through this, lose some weight and in the process loosen the band?

Suggestions and thanks?

Dave:

Do you have the fill done in the office or do they do it under x-ray? I wonder if you are still to tight. With the x-ray they can tell if you have to much reflux etc. That is what my doctor looks for when he does the fills.

Contact MS Dad Eddie; He is on this site. He is in Jacksonville, Fla. I used to live and work in Jacksonville and Orlando I worked for a company that built a couple of the big bridges over the intra coastal Water.

The first thing to do is to call your clinic. That is why they are there and you paid so much.

You sound right sometimes a small defill is good in this situation.

Good luck.

Question on portion sizes. I've been told 2-4 ounces of Protein (plus 1/2 cup veggies). I always thought that meant 2-4 ounces by weight. Turns out it's by volume??? I have a hard time picturing chicken breast in a measuring cup, and a ditigal food scale is a lot easier. Am I the only one who's been weighing my protein instead of measuring it?

MDix30, I would verify that. How can you neasure a solid with a liquid measurement? A cup measures volume so with a strech you may be able to use that on something like ground meat or tunafish but chicken? ?? I would check the source.

NHLAPBAND I just had the surgery a week ago so I may be in a position to give some relevant suggestions.

1) Do exactly as the doctor says, but question everything. If something doesn't make sense ASK!!!

2) If you know where your port is going to be placed start practicing sleeping away from it NOW.

3) Make sure to lose some weight before the procedure, I only lost 5 and they almost didn't do my surgery (however, they also never told me that I was supposed to lose weight before either)

4) Post any questions you may have. This seems like a pretty good group of folks.

5) Yes, be ready for pain. I am an exception that my banding was (and continues to be) very painful. From everyone I have spoken to, this is not normal, but most people do experience some discomfort.

6) Plan on at least a few days off of work. I get to work from home much of the time so this has not been a problem for me, but I do find I need a nap in the middle of the day and am much more tired than before the surgery.

Other than that, Good Luck.

I am scheduled for my first fill on 12/20 Is there some kind of diet I hae to do before and after the fill?? My doctor hasn't told me yet. I have a little restriction and I FELT IT a WEEK AGO when I ate some rice to fast, it was horrible. The pain was intense and then I vomited it up, I will never go through that again, small bited slow down and chew chew chew!!! SO happens before the fill and after???;)

The only diet I have for fills is 1 day of liquids and 1 day of mushies right after a fill. Other than that, its all the same. Good luck on the fill and congrats on the weight loss so far....Dave

Isvadela, congratulations on the weight loss. Keep up the good work.

My surgeon said the same thing as Dave01, liquids after the fill for a day - then watch what you eat.

I had my 1st fill this week (12/5), felt the restriction and only had liquids that day and the day after. Today on regular foods and all seems to be OK.

374 - 03/24/07 - Journey Begins

349 - 10/25/07 - Surgery Date

319 - 12/05/07 - First Fill - 3cc's in a 10cc band

I was banded with the Sweedish band on Saturday December 15th by Dr. Joffe in Sarnia. Woke up in pain but pills take care of it ok. Getting better day by day. On just Clear Liquids. I have to remember to sip! it lets me know right away. I lost 30 lbs pre op so I'm kind of proud of myself. I could only have yogurt, Water and one chicken breast daily. Oh yeah and some cottage cheese but I was sick of that very quickly. I am sure I will have questions later but for now I'll just take it easy.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
