:phanvan hey guys, how long does port pain last. Mine just started yesterday , ( if I get up fast or sit too fast or walk too long) but not very much, but it lets me know its there sometimes. My scars are healing just great, almost no red to them, not bad for 9 days out.

This is the most entertaining thread...

I'd have to say that my husband's libido has increased since I got the band. I am only two weeks out, so it isn't the weight loss that's turning him on. Maybe it was the few days he had to wait until I healed sufficiently, but geez.... mama needs a rest now and then!

Sexersize is one form of recovery that helps two hearts at a time, or maybe more if you are into group stuff.

Feeling better just makes life more fun.

It's the forbidden fruit. He can't have it so he wants it more than normal.

Hello!

I'm so glad I found this thread. My name is Dave and I am a guy!

I've not had the band fitted yet, but am aiming to have it soon though. I'm just taking some time getting my head around it all. I live in the UK, but am looking at having the procedure in Belgium as it is more cost effective there.

I have loads of things I want to ask, but here is just one question for starters. I do a fairly sedentary job and I was wondering how quickly you think I could get back to work after the procedure?

Thanks,

Dave

Like most things with the band, it's not the same for everyone. I have a desk job and I still did not feel up to going back to work for over 10 days. A lot of other people are back to work in three days. I would say for planning purposes, I would set aside at least a week to recover. If you feel fine before the week is over, you can always find something to do to take advantage of the extra days.

Thanks Mark,

I was wondering if you could give me an idea as to what the symptons are after the operation. I'm guessing it's pain where the scars are?

I'm unable to take that many days off work at the moment and am just wondering what I have to face after the procedure?

Unfortunately I have to answer this one in a vague manner as well. It's just hard to say what your symptoms will be. A lot of people do have pain and discomfort where the incisions are. Many people also talk about gas pain in the shoulder. I guess with this surgery they need to put some air inside you sometimes which takes time to get out. Others have nausea. I had none of those things. For me, I had a general weakness and other things like a cold, diarrhea, and a little bit of extra concern because my port incision was draining for over a week after the surgery. So, it's just hard to say. Most people say that if they have to go to work, if it is a desk job they can get through it even if they need extra days. I can just say that for me I am very glad I had some extra time.

Hi Mark,

Thanks again for you reply. I do appreciate it.

Ok, two more questions.

Can you feel the port under your skin? also, once you have got by the initial liguid diets and mush, can you go back to eating normal (but smaller) meals?

Dave

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
