So my insurance is approved, classes completed and at my last dietician appt she said if everything still looks good she's talking to the surgeon and I should be setting up the surgery. I'm hoping July. Any tips out there? My job knows and I'm guessing two weeks off? Lots of Water I know. How soon can I go to the gym/be active after? Thanks everyone

Your probably going to need about 4 weeks out of work! You can start walking immediately after surgery but lifting is a no no until about 6-8 weeks after surgery!

Thanks for the info. How did you feel post op? I've also got a LOT to lose. I'm at 366 and can't wait for surgery. I've changed my eating habits, exercise and have lost 1.5 lbs so it's so discouraging. Dietician says pcos can cause me to not lose weight and in the back of my head I wonder if I'll lose after surgery. Sorry if I'm rambling but after reading the posts on here, especially yours, I feel like I can express myself more here than with the groups @ my bariatric center..and I've been dying to know (if anyone wouldn't mind answering) how long after until I can have sex?

Congrats on the approval! I was out of work less than two weeks (I have an office job). I felt normal after surgery, just a little weaker than normal. I'm four weeks out and just played a softball double header. Everyone is obviously different but just wanted to share my story. Not too shabby! 32lbs lost in the first month :)

I'm so glad you ask the sex question it was on my mind LMFAO. 1 week is nothing I guess since my poor hubby is lucky to get it now twice a month. I know I'm such a cold fish Lolz... I'm just so insecure about my big body that I rather not be touched.

Hope it all goes well for you

Phew, a week isn't too bad. @mamiof3kids I say do it everyday, great exercise.

Thanks for answering my questions everyone! And good luck to all. I have another question...but it's a dirty one and I don't know if I'll get booted for asking so I'll try to make it sound....umm...general lol.

So u can only sip a few ounces at a time. If I were with my fiancée and was in a swallowing situation....how would that work? Sorry for the tmi

I would definitely say that's too much to swallow all at once!

I know I can't wait for my 6 weeks to be up and I can start with weights for these arms! Lol. My doctor also said walking immediately was great, but absolutely nothing else till after 6 weeks! Its just not worth the medical complications that could occur. I'm an Emergency room RN and I have seen so many people come in after they pushed it and now the harm they have done is irreversible. Just walk......and good luck!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
