Less Than 24 Hours Till Surgery

Recommended Posts

Woke up this morning with instant anxiety when I realized this was my last day before surgery. I wish I could say it was my last day of freedom because I'm starving! But then I thought to my self, no... Tomorrow is my first day of freedom from being obese.

It's amazing, just the little bit of weight I've lost on the preop diet how much better I feel. I'm not sure how much I've lost because I don't have a scale at home but I'm sure it's at least 10 pounds.

I have a question for everyone that has had surgery already...my surgeon said not to be surprised if I wake from surgery in intensive care, that they do that sometimes just to have someone keeping an eye on you at all times. Did anyone else have that experience?

Hey Jen!

Best of luck in the next 24hrs, and it certainly will be the beginning of your new life. I haven't had my RNY yet, but had Lapband nearly 4yrs ago. In Australia with the WLS procedures, they take you to a "recovery ward" where you are constantly monitored until they are sure you are fine to return to a normal ward. When I had my Lapband I was only in there 20mins, but when my gallbladder come out it was over 2hrs.

Look forward to hearing about your journey! Jac88 :)

Good luck on your new journey. I had my surgery on April 23rd. I didn't go to intensive care. I think every situation is different.

Good Luck and I'll pray for you. My surgery is May 1st. I'm in the last minute " panic mode" as well. I thought about having just one french fry tonight and then thought, " it's just not worth it" so I sucked down my Protein Shake and thank God that this is going to work!

The worst is behind you Jen! I don't think I have ever in my life been as dehydrated as I was after my RNY. It's all downhill from here. Congratulations!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
