Why am I not losing weight?

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved 9-23. My weight on 9-30 was 303.4. It's been 303.8 the rest of this week. I'm still on a liquid diet. I'm getting in my Protein and liquids every day. Why am I not losing weight? It seems like everyone has weight falling off of them this early after surgery. What if I've gone through all this and won't lose weight? Everyone told me this would work, but the scale isn't budging. I'm starting to get really upset.

I was sleeved 9/16, and I've also stopped losing weight. It's a bit frustrating considering how little I am eating. I am taking in 500-600 calories per day, very few carbs, but I can't seem to hit my Water goal. The surgery does work, we've seen that here, but I think everyone is different. Are you getting in the minutes of walking (I am not :( no motivation at this point), because that might also make a difference. Hang In There!!!! We can do this!

You're two weeks out from surgery? Stop worrying. Many of us put ON weight during our first week or surgery from the IV fluids as well as from general inflammation. Honestly, this is very, very normal. You will soon hit your three-week stall as well, so measure yourself, keep doing what you should do, and try to be as patient as possible.

Easier said than done I know! I'm going through a slow period right now too and it's frustrating, but it's normal.

If in a couple of months you haven't lost anything, you can get upset then maybe, not in a couple of weeks :)

Thisis a marathon, not a race. It'll come off. It's a stall which is a normal part of the journey.

U guys just wait u will be losing weight like crazy here pretty soon. The dreaded 3 week stall happened to all of us. I am 4 months out and have lost 56 lbs been stuck in a stall for 3 weeks now. It will pass u just have to wait it out. Before this stall I lost almost every day. About 3 lbs a week. Every week. Keep doing what ur doing it will happen. I went from 2X scrubs to large. From tight 22 to 16. Ready for more charges just gotta wait out this stall.

Thanks for this advice. I was afraid I was getting too many calories somehow even though I'm hardly eating anything at all.

Get your Water in. Ketosis requires lots of fluids and your liver needs the water for all that Protein, too.

Follow the advice of your NUT and surgeon.. stay on the planned phase.. don't move up in food phase until its okay'd. Most of all.. for the first few weeks don't worry. If you stick to the plan.. you will lose weight. Your body is recovering from surgery.. things are changing. Try to relax and concentrate on feeling stronger to you can begin to excersise. You will be really surprised at how quickly the weight and inches will fall off. Word of advice.. when it does start moving stay on track.. now is the time to lose the most amount of weight you can. Relax.. and stay on plan.

I'm almost 4 weeks out & in the same boat. I started pre-op at 292.5. Lost 20 lbs on my pre-op

Diet & the weeks since surgery I dropped to 256.5 & the scale has stopped moving for the last week & a half. It's frustrating but I'm hoping it's just the dreaded stall & I will break it soon. I also haven't had period since I was pre-op so I'm hoping maybe that has something to do with it also. Good luck to everyone else stalled.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
