Dr. Elias Ortiz - A lighter Me

Recommended Posts

Thanks Deejack08! Hearing/seeing great testimonies sure makes me feel better! Great results! Bob, I agree I've never read anything negative about Ortiz, other than he is not a "certified bariatric" surgeon. I'm pretty sure he's had more surgeries under his belt than a lot of US surgeons. In the end I will make my on decision but Ortiz still has not been marked off my list!

Also Bob, I did contact Specialized Bariatrics & Mexico Bariatric Center keeps calling me back. She told me they are a "sister" company! - CONFUSED!

Here is Dr. Lopez's website http://specializedbariatrics.com/about/ From what I heard, Mexico Bariatric Center also books for Dr. Lopez and Dr. Osuna. Mexico Bariatric Center is a reputable company. I know a lot of people that used them.

Dr. Lopez is no longer working with ALighterMe. ALighterMe is telling patients otherwise to get them with Ortiz. Dr. Ortiz is only an assistant surgeon with no certifications for bariatrics.

I spoke with Janese from a lighter me and she said Dr. Lopez will be in to perform is already scheduled surgeries. I hope it's true as my surgery is booked for the 22.

Just got off the phone with A Lighter Me - Janese...she said Dr. Lopez is NOT working for them any longer but if you already have a surgery booked with him through A Lighter Me he will honor it. That he WILL be the one performing the surgery but they are not booking any new surgeries with Dr. Lopez. Hope this helps to clear up confusion!

Me, my sister and my sister in law all had surgery on May 10, 2013. We booked with Janese through ALighterme. We were booked with Dr. Lopez and told Dr. Ortiz would assist. The day of surgery we all met Dr. Lopez. He did my sister in laws surgery first. He was in scrubs. I was next. Before they wheeled me to surgery I saw Dr. Lopez in dress clothes as if he were leaving. Then my sister was last. Later that day as we were walking the halls, we saw the surgery board behind those double doors that said my sister in law- Dr. Lopez and me and my sister -Dr. Ortiz. After I got home, I emailed Janese to question this and she blew it off as Dr. Ortiz ALWAYS assist Dr. Lopez. Now after reading all of this, I really think Dr. Lopez wasn't even there! I feel we were lied to.

On a good note, Dr. Ortiz was very nice, professional, removed our drains and we had no problems and are all doing fabulous.

That's greats. Thanks for the information. I would be a little upset If he wasn't as he's the one I wanted and was offered another one for less money and I still decided to stay with him.

Probably not after reading on here that he is not bariatric certified. I'd have to do a little researching?????

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
