I do not have celiac, but I had a lot of inflammatory responses to wheat. Reflux, hypothyroid, joint pains... Any time I eat wheat the reflux comes back right away and within a few days the joint pain starts.. I don't have to be super careful about trace amounts of gluten like someone who is celiac, I mean , I'm sure I get traces of gluten here and there and I don't react to it, but something like half a tortilla, or a few bites of Pasta and I'm paying for it BIG TIME.

The sleeve has helped me stick with eating wheat free. YAY I've actually been so compliant with avoiding wheat that I no longer require synthroid as my body is now satisfied with the amount of hormone my thyroid gland can produce! (please not that 99.99% of people will NOT see this type of improvement because for MOST, the thyroid gland has been damaged and it can NEVER heal no matter what, I got SO LUCKY because my thyroid gland was still perfectly healthy) I also am free of about 80% of the joint pain I experienced previously.. Yes I still have aches and pains in my knees after working all day, but it's pretty mild and doesn't stop me from working out.

I am almost 5 months out and I have Celiac. Before surgery I could handle a bite of wheat/gluten, postop is a different story!!! I feel awesome and hope to meet my goal (-100lbs) by Thanksgiving!

Happy to swap recipes or ideas with you!!

I could never eat a bite of gluten as it made me sicker then sick and wasn't worth the consequences! I've been gluten free for 15 years!

When were you sleeved and what phase of the diet are you in? What recipes or ideas are you looking for?

I was sleeved June 3rd. I eat everything but steak and no bread, not even gluten free. It just doesn't sit well. I was diagnosed with Celiac 3 years ago.

Good Morning,

I have celiac's disease and was sleeved 10/22. I am with you GlutenFreeSingleMom; I can't have ANY gluten or I am soooo sick. It is not worth it. I don't even eat out at restaurants because I have gotten sick from cross contamination. I have only been diagnosed for 11 months.

I have found some aspects of the sleeve plan has been easier for me because I already had my food funerals last year. But of course I am only 11 days out.

Bonnie

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
