Weave/ hair extensions for hair loss?

Recommended Posts

I'm just wondering if anyone's tried getting volume weaves into their thinning hair?

And my only concern would be that perhaps the weight of the extra hair would somehow cause more hair to fall out?

I'm still 5 weeks pre op but the hair falling out thing is something I want to have pro active solutions for. I keep hearing ppl say that even taking Biotene... They still lost hair. I'm not a wig person, but I'm also not a bald person... So what do y'all think?

To weave or not to weave... That is the question!

(Hair weaving is where hair that is purchased thru salon or beauty supply store is basically sewed into your own hair close to the scalp) you can go thicker, or longer (extensions) or both.

I am not sleeved yet but I do have experience with extensions. I have had the best experience with clip-in extensions and feel less hair fall with them (probably because you don't sleep in them) Mine are natural hair and colored to match my own hair and only take minutes to put in. As far as helping prevent Hair loss, fish oil can help. There's a brand called Barlean's that comes in liquid form and tastes good as well. Just remember any hair loss as a result of the surgery is not permanent. Also if you see your hair is starting to fall more than usual, try increasing your Protein intake.

i already wear clip ins for length and volume and love them. make sure you get the real remy hair and your stylist can color them to match your hair, or you can select a shade to blend with your own hair. not hard to put in and nobody ever believes I wear them.

I have just started to notice the Hair loss (my brush is full of long hairs that is double what I usually find after brushing my hair) but also have TONS of new Hair growth that is 2-3 inches long. I think the current hair loss will not be that much of an issue since there is new growth.

I am a stylist, and I can tell you that the clip ins are best. A fellow hair stylist/co-worker had to finally have hers removed due to loosing to much of her own hair. It just puts too much weight and tension on your natural hair and causes excessive breakage. It also depends on the texture and condition of your hair. For example if your hair is fine or in a weakened state from color or excessive flat ironing etc. , extensions will more than likely cause further damage and loss.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
