Recommended Posts

I have lost 110lbs in the last 9 ½ months. I ran into a coworker, last week, I am not sure if she even knows what she said but she told me… “You looked good 2 months ago, not you look kinda sickly.” What the HELL? I am 5”8 still weigh 153 doctors goal weight was 155 so I think at this point I am Far from “sickly”??? UGH, some people.

My friend lost a lot of weight and I said the same thing. Now he looks normal and great. Nothing changed, except I am used to seeing him at a normal weight.

I'm next.

People can be so thoughtless to speak everything that crosses their mind. In their defense, some times it people losing weight do look sickly at times as their body adjusts. Once the body adjusts they look great. I would just chalk it up to poor manners and be proud of your accomplishment. Keep up the good work!

I think that is it. People are so used to you looking a certain way that even though you are totally within your weight range, to them you initially look really thin. I'm sure people who have never met you before think you look great because they don't have that "before" image in their head.

People said that to me right after I lost the bulk of my weight. I think it's because our bodies are still readjusting to the new weight.

Jealousy has reared its ugly head. People have to remember u don't look the same everyday, me for instance, well put it this way, I was sent home from a job one day and told to put on makeup. I do look way better with makeup

I wonder if it's jealousy? I think sometimes people see us losing weight and they don't like it for one reason or another. What I hate is that now I still have about 40 lbs to lose and every once in a while someone says something about my weight. I'm thinking, "what?? I've lost 100 lbs!!" but it's all about they're own perception.

You're OBVIOUSLY doing an amazing job, so don't let them get to you. :-)

I have been watching a lot of people I work with who have been sleeved. I have to say, it seems as another poster stated that after a tremendous amount of weight loss in a short period of time, people look good, then look sick - then as their body adjusts, look good again. It amazes me how people feel they have the right to make verbal observations about other peoples weight and looks. So unthoughtful and unfeeling. I'm sure they think they are doing it from a place of caring, but it is hurtful and not at all helpful. Keep your head up and know people will adjust to the new you as your body adjusts as well.

I don't either, just for once want someone to say instead of how obese and overweight that I look a little thin. that was all I meant - I do not want to be sickly or anyone else for that matter

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
