WAITING! The worst part of this whole journey!

Recommended Posts

Hello fellow sleevers. I have turned to the boards for words of encouragement and advice. When I started this journey the 20th of August I was certain I would be getting sleeved by September 26th which would be tomorrow but I am still playing the waiting game with my surgeons office and everyday that goes by I get more and more discouraged!! After my first appointment with the doctor I was so certain I would be approved no problem and began planning my new life and constantly talking about it with my BMI of 40 and my insurance BCBSIL i was certain approval would be easy and I was ecstatic when they verified I didn't need the 6 month diet. I also recently got a letter of medical necessity from my PCP but the wait is killing me i am now looking at a october 17th surgery at the earliest! I know it sounds selfish because some are not even able to get the surgery but I'm so ready to start my new life. One question though my insurance coordinator put on the paper I need a five year weight history and 12 months office notes?? I only have three years as I have only been with this doctor for three years and my doc in ohio states they do not have any records of mine on file and I don't need a supervised diet so what is the 12 month charts notes for?? Any words of advice or encouragement would be so helpful as I am beginning to feel discouraged with the waiting!

Most of us had a long wait, so we can sympathize! Personally, when I realized that part of this entire thing is Real Change, I started to make changes and so was really ready by the surgery date. Start now. Cut out cigarrettes (sp), reduce and then eliminate caffine. Reduce and eliminate carbonation, start focusing on Protein and getting Water in... Use the time to be a winning loser!

@arts137 That's good advice this whole process is about change so I will take this time to prepare myself cause it is defiantly going to be a huge lifestyle change. Thanks. @amabda626 yes it is defiantly the worst part I'm just ready to have it done so I can start changing my life!!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
