Anyone else? Can not stomach protein shakes all of a sudden....

I was sleeved on Sept. 5, 2013. I did great my first week. About 11 days post op I noticed that after every protein shake I would literally be in the restroom a few minutes after with diarrhea. At first when it began I thought it was the milk because my husband bought the incorrect milk for me it was high protein but 2%, I only had 2 protein shakes with this milk and that was 2 days ago. I went back to regular skim milk with my protein shakes and it is still going right thru me. I now find myself starving and I noticed it is making me weak. I had such high energy last week even walked everyday by Friday 8 days post op I had already lost 16lbs. Now I am at a stall, not holding any protein shakes and feeling no energy. Any advice? Any one else have issues with protein shakes after drinking them for a week or two? Also any suggestions when it comes to the full liquid diet? Chicken and Beef Broth is tiresome. What other soups can you suggest?

Ok I deliver dairy products to a convenient store chain . My 70 yr old mother and my wife get diarrhea when they drink milk . Since the regular milk made them sick they changed to lactaid .

One day I brought some 2% in a carton instead of a plastic container . Well , both my mother and wife drank some of the milk I brought in the carton . Amazingly , neither got sick and up to this day they both drink regular milk but only out of a carton . It might be worth a try : )

I have been feeling like my blood sugar is dropping also after my Protein shake...!?! Wats that mean?

I am having the same problem...I don't know what that is....I been using the whey protein and each time I have drink it I was weak and sweating....like u said feeling like my sugar was low....I don't know what to do about trying to get my protein in....

I bought some samples of whey-free protein powder and some dairy free bars today. I am pretty sure this is a dairy issue. Since whey is milk and I'm constantly consuming it between the shakes and bars, this has to be the problem. I took a Lactaid pill then ate about 1/4th of a quest bar this morning. 30 minutes later, my intestines started getting rumbly and I needed the bathroom quick. Lactaid isn't doing the job for me, though I know it helps many of us with dairy problems. I'm so sad because I am going to have a hard time getting the protein requirements met without dairy products. Being sick and terribly gassy most of the day is worse though. I hope I can get this under control.

All of you lactose Intolerant people, I have a simple solution for you. Go get some lactaid pills at the store, and take two along with your first sip of the shake, and you should be good to go. I've been lactose intolerant for years and this is what I do. It works.

I'm 8 weeks post op and over the past couple of weeks I have developed bowel issues with my chocolate protein shakes that I drink on the way to work. I can drink the vanilla and cookies n creme with no issues. Some days I think my sleeve is just being picky.
