Tomorrow (11/5) is my day!! Wish I could say I aced the clear liquid diet but I've cheated...a lot! Getting super nervous. Not so much about the surgery itself but about me failing my sleeve. Donuts....cookies....candy....cake.... Some days I wouldn't eat if not for those things. I hope I can do this. See u on the other side!

You CAN do it! It's going to take work but you'll succeed.

I'm getting very close and feeling more and more relaxed.... I'm trusting in the power of the Almighty one to guide me through my journey. Before I left from work yesterday... 2 social workers laid their hands one me and prayed for me... Wow! Did that feel good! I have so much support and love, so I feel prepared, even the ones whom don't agree are giving me well wishes...just wanted to send some of these good vibes to anyone getting sleeved soon and is feeling nervous!!! Inserting my count down clock :)

Hi everyone! I started this thread and just wanted to let everyone know that im doing ok! had my surgery yesterday morning and just returned home. The gas pains were pretty dam bad, but now have cleared up pretty much. I made sure I kept walking every couple hours. Also when they do the x-ray for any leaks, the drink they give you is horrible. -_- But all who are going through it soon will do good! Best wishes for all of you. And for all who have done it before me this month congrats and good luck!!! :D

Hey Y'all. I'm on day 6 of my 2 week pre-op. My surgery is Tuesday' date=' 11.12.13 in Grand Rapids. Unlike some of y'all, I'm not on liquid only. The place where I am having my surgery done is a Bariatric Center of Excellence and they have their own product for the pre and post op phases of this journey. With that said, I purchased their product and have been eating that. It's a combination of Protein Drinks, high-protein Snacks (i.e. beef Jerky, etc.), oatmeal, microwave dinners. I can have SF popsicles, SF Jello, flavored waters, etc. I'm eating every two hours or so. In 6 days I have lost 10.5 pounds - which is still hard for me to believe! My husband is right there with me. While he is not (and doesn't need to have) having the surgery (he only needs to loose about 20 pounds), he is doing is own version of high Protein with EAS drinks and snacks with a microwavable dinner. It is so incredibly helpful that he is doing something similar to me. When I am on liquids for 2 weeks post -op he will be drinking his EAS shakes. This is a team thing for us which I am incredibly grateful. I and we will be successful! Now though, I'm beginning to get nervous about the surgery itself as we all do. I ask for your positive thoughts and prayers as I prepare for and go through this surgery and journey. Lastly, I think I will try the FB group again (I left because I wasn't sure about the privacy from my "friends"). If someone could send an invitation to me that would be great. My email address is skinnyscarlett@gmail.com Take good care y'all. ~s.[/sub']

I am also being sleeved on 11/12/13 in Alma Mi. Good luck!

One week today I will be sleeved! Mixed feelings because I have never had any kind of surgery and I am really nervous. As for the 10 pre-op diet it is a ton easier then I thought it would be especially with going to two birthday parties and the big Game... Oh and working! I am having mixed feelings because I am a single parent and it makes me worry about my son. I just hope and pray everything turns out well.

Finally got everything squared away today - my surgery date is November 21st! :D I'm starting to get really excited, but I'm trying not to get my hopes up as my physician is slightly worried that a previous hernia surgery will render it impossible. However, I'm moving forward and getting everything ready like it's happening. With that in mind, I'd really like to join the fb group if at all possible. Email: skinnypurplefaery@gmail.com Good luck and best wishes to everyone having surgery tomorrow!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
