Band to sleeve tomorrow!

Recommended Posts

I'm having my band removed on October 15th, and having the sleeve at the same time. My doctor did inform me that there was a %5 chance that I could not get the sleeve done at the same time… it would depend on the amount of scar tissues present, which he cannot tell until I am on the table. I am scared to death that I will be the 5%. Fingers crossed. The surgery is two weeks from tomorrow.

I had a band to sleeve revision scheduled for last week. He was only able to take the band out...Sleeve surgery is 4 months out. Prepare yourself for waking up without the sleeve.

Because I had no pain or issues with the band for years (had all Fluid taken out years ago), I assumed I would be able to have revision in 1 surgery. Doc warned me also that I had a 50/50 chance and that he would not know until he got inside. Turns out band was fully encapsulated with tissue. He had to do a lot of work removing it and the scar tissue.

So after surgery last Tuesday, I've been going thru this emotional roller coaster. Feeling better today though. Have to look on the bright side of things that I am still a candidate for sleeve. Just gonna take a little more time than I anticipated...

So anyway, I hope it works out for you that you can have it done in 1 surgery....But go in with the thought that you may not wake up with the sleeve...and you will move forward either way.

I had my band removed in April after loosing 90 lbs. Since then I have gained back 15. I get my Sleeve on Nov 9.. YAY!!!! I am feeling some people think since I only have 70 lbs to make my goal... that that isn't enough to need to loose to get a Sleeve.. but, I know if I don't do this.. over time I will gain everything back that I have already lost!

I have around 50 lbs that I would still like to lose and around 80 lbs per the charts.

Well after almost 5 long years of having the band not do a thing but cause problems for me,

Reflux, gaging, weight gain (lost 116, gained 40) and feeling like crap, I am set for tomorrow to have band removed, and sleeved. YAY!

Have lost 9 lbs in the past 6 days from the preop diet.

Not too bad. Have not been hungry, which is a good thing. The shakes help a lot.

So wish me luck, and I will see you on the flip side.

Dear Montiep..I see you had everything at once. I'm having Band removed on Wed Oct 9th. but I have to wait till Jan to be Sleeved. My Doc wants to wait for new tissue to grow. That is how he does it. I hope you are doing well. I was hoping to see how someone was after Band removed, but you are on to the next thing.. Good Luck...JewelJ

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
