I had my band placed January 2009, removed in May 2013. Just had my sleeve procedure 9/16/13, and so far recovery has been easier then when I had my band placed/removed. I am so so glad I did the sleeve!!!!!!

I hope you have a quick recovery. Did all of you guys have band removal and sleeve done in the same procedure?

Yes, I had my band removal and sleeve done at the same time - thank goodness! I would not want to go through everything twice.

Good for you! That's the way I would like to do it but my old surgeon makes you wait 6 mos. I have a CT scan scheduled on Tuesday and I really don't know what this new surgeon will suggest when the band is removed. I hope there's not too much damage done my the band and I'm sleeved the same time as the removal. Wish me luck, and please pray for me!

That stinks they are making you wait 6 months. I have my band removed this coming Friday 9/27 and then in 4 weeks my surgeon is going to do the sleeve surgery. He said he only needs to wait 4-6 weeks. I told him...ok 4 weeks it is.

Mel1976, I don't blame you. Oh well, my CT scan came back negative and my Dr. didn't even mention having the band removed. She feels that I need to increase my Fiber intake. On my next visit I will explain to her that I have the band to help me to lose weight. I'm not doing that anymore, I'm gaining weight. I couldn't lose weight on my own before and I still can't.

I also had my band removal with sleeve revision the same day. I'm so happy! I am on soft foods now.

Good luck!

I had my band removed in April after loosing 90 lbs. Since then I have gained back 15. I get my Sleeve on Nov 9.. YAY!!!! I am feeling some people think since I only have 70 lbs to make my goal... that that isn't enough to need to loose to get a Sleeve.. but, I know if I don't do this.. over time I will gain everything back that I have already lost!

FreeSpirit63, when do you get your sleeve? Mine is still 38 days away.. and it's kind of hard to believe that I am really going to have it done. I have been spending a lot of time on this Forum.. and I love it! So much information!!

I'm having my band removed on October 15th, and having the sleeve at the same time. My doctor did inform me that there was a %5 chance that I could not get the sleeve done at the same time… it would depend on the amount of scar tissues present, which he cannot tell until I am on the table. I am scared to death that I will be the 5%. Fingers crossed. The surgery is two weeks from tomorrow.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
