Recommended Posts

So far this has been the hardest thing I've EVER done as far as weight loss goes!!! I am down somedays because it is hard to eat more than a few bites, some days I just want to chug Water or tea like I use to! I know I'm only 4 weeks and a few days out, but really when does it get easier???? I'm following everything I'm suppose to do.....it's just so dang hard! Wait to drink, eat this at this time, take this Vitamin 2 hrs before this vitamin....and on!!! Please some reassurance....it's been a HARD DAY!!

I'd say you're just about to turn that corner into happiness. I'd hope to see you loving your sleeve in another 4 weeks. Hang in there. Are you PMSing right now? I get really hungry & irritable at that time of month.

I don't have any word of encouragement because I'm in the same boat as you I'm 4 weeks out and some days I'm good others I cry and wonder why I did this to myself and I just want to go back to the "old" me. But if you ever need to comisserate you can always message me.

(((BIG HUGGSSS!!!!)))

it can feel so hard sometimes, but it does get better - I can't promise when but it will. Be very kind to your tummy and don't fret too much about the quantity you can get into it. I swear I seriously think the worrying made it worse for me. Keep some unjury unflavored protien powder around, and make smoothies and juices and add that to it. Stay hydrated and just be very good to yourself. You are on a most awesome journey!

you tube 'rawfully organic' for some awesome juice and smoothie ideas.

Good luck!

I am 8 weeks out and I can tell in about 2 weeks you WILL start to feel better. At 8 weeks if I get my Protein and Water in I feel fabulous. But if I slack, I feel like poop. I know this feeling of sick of being sick and just wanting to feel normal again... Your almost there!!

Try to focus on some positive things regarding your sleeve. how much weight have you lost? Any non scale victories? did you take pre op measurements? if so, take them again and see how many inches you have lost.

Sorry you are having a bad day. THIS TOO SHALL PASS!

I'm at 4 weeks, too, and this thread is encouraging. Thanks everyone for posting.

Also four weeks, and feeling similarly. This weekend was a little hard because we had a big party and a separate big family dinner. I nibbled on a turkey and cheese rollup during the party and had some Soup during dinner.< /p>

Overall, I'm weary of trying to get Protein and Water in -- shakes are too gross, I can do Isopure but it's a chore, solid (soft) Protein takes patience and time, I'm not exactly full of vim and vigor, I know I should start working out but I have so little energy...

Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled to have lost the weight I've lost, but the life adjustment is still hard enough that it overshadows the weight loss a bit.

This thread is encouraging, thanks so much to everyone for posting that it does get better.

Want to know a secret? Powdered milk and Greek yogurt are truly your best friends! Like mashed potatoes?? Add 1/3 of a cup powdered milk plus whatever else you enjoy on them, for extra protein add plain Greek yogurt as "sour cream" with some bacon crumbles and shredded cheese. In a half cup of "potatoes" you could have 15ish grams of protein. It will take you an hour to eat.. But you'll feel better the next day if you get your protein in today. eggs with shredded cheese. tuna with Greek yogurt. Cottage cheese. Gotta think outside the box. My nut recommended I drink a glass of skim milk for Breakfast every morning with 1/3 cup powdered milk.. 16grams of protein-done!

Want to know a secret? ......

Love this---great suggestions! I don't know if this will help anyone, but I put everything in MyFitnessPal.com....and at the end of the day if I don't get all my Protein in, I grab a glass of milk, cheese stick, or a bottle of Premier Protein to make sure I have met the Protein requirements.......80g....and I have a ton of energy....so if someone is lacking energy and not getting their protein in, you may want to work on that.......still tough to eat more than 1 or 2 ounces of solid food at a time.....

I think it gets easier every day....I'm with the OP, though.....still would love to chug some Water at the gym......but it's coming along

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
