Hello! I am also a State employee. I had my WLS in South Ms on 9/24. I guess I've been recovering and hadn't gotten the deductible notice. Geez

Dr Avara did my sleeve avid I did really well. The only nausea was after I walked. My problem was the IV machine- I was the first, yes the first, patient in the hospital with their new all-in-one machine so every medical person seemed to come in the room to check it out and discuss. It had four separate alarms that were factory set very loud. The dang thing went off all night long. I got so tired of it that I'd just push the button and when they answered I held it up to the machine. When I needed to us the bathroom they had to disconnect the oxygen and this new machine allows 2 minutes before it resets everything--ain't gonna happen! They didn't have IV poles that could hold the weight of the new machine so pushing it around required a staff member- at first I was agrevated but I got to talk to a lot of nice people who walked with me!

One thing I found cool was my nurse also had the sleeve and she talked to me! I couldn't have prayed for a better caregiver. She understood me and knew what to say.

Thatis wonderful that you had a nurse who could really understand.

I'm feeling much better. The days 1-4 after you get home from the hospital is the same clear liquid diet I posted above. The next days 5-14 is the same full liquid diet I posted above. Days 15-28 is puréed. Days 29-43 are a soft diet. After 6 weeks you can go to a regular diet. But to tell you the truth I'm not really eating yet. It just too hard right now. I can't get the Protein in either. The nurse said it was fine for right now as long as I'm getting the liquids in. I'm not hungry at all and when I try to eat something it just hurts too bad. I'm also having heart burn like crazy. I have an appt with Dr. Carroll tomorrow and hopefully he can prescribe me something that May can help eating be easier.

Thank you again.

Sorry to hear about the heartburn. That is just terrible. Hope he can find something to relieve you soon.

I"m going nto start prepping for the liquid diet this week. I work 3-11, so I decided on the days that I work, I will have a liquid dinner, from either of the lists. I think that will keep me from being in total shock of not having food during the 2 weeks prior to surgery. I'm scheduled for 5 weeks from tomorrow.

Got my chewable Vitamins in a few days ago. I have started taking them already. I have ordered me some samples of different Protein, including the powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chicken broth.

That sounds like a good idea. I should have tried something like that beforehand. The liquid diet is crazy hard. I had massive headaches both weeks. But by that Thursday before my Monday surgery, I had finally gotten used to it and those last few days were not hard at all. Good luck to you. It's all worth it in the end. I can't wait to start seeing the changes.

My Dr had me taking pill form immediately. He doesn't feel the chewable provides the same quality nutrients. I was mortified. The whole conversation came about when the nurse told me to break open a Prevacid capsule and pour it on some pudding. Hmmmm I was on Clear Liquids and questioned if I understood her correctly. Dr Avera told me if you can suck it thru a straw you can have it (without the straw!).

Anyway, he assured me the pills will go down just fine. He was right- I just have to plan to take them away from any 'meal' because they fill my tummy.

I am blessed not to have heartburn. I just think that would be miserable and you're already trying to recover. I will keep you in my prayers.

I was supposed to see Dr. Cummins this week, but she's not coming in this week so I won't be able to see her until next week, almost a month after surgery. I was hoping to see her this week to get released to go back to work. I asked them about that and they said I'd have to wait to see my surgeon. I'm using all my sick leave, personal leave, and extended leave for this surgery.

PS: How do you get a ticker to show up in your posts? I made one, but I don't know how to display it.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
