I was sleeved 8/26 so I'm just over 2 weeks and feeling better daily! Still on liquids only (water/protein shakes) and can't WAIT to move to shmooshy foods next week. Each day gets better and better. I'm not napping as much as before, swallowing is a breeze now (hurt like HECK at first). I'm down 29 lbs. total (10 post op, 19 pre) and have gone down a size already in clothes. Would love to stay in touch w/other August sleevers.

Well went for my two week follow up and I have lost 10 pounds since surgery and total of 25 pounds since starting this journey. I am now on soft foods and very happy about that but still having to deal with gas and reflux after meals and drinks. My doctor says its ok and it will pass so I won't worry about it. He also told me that me worrying about trying to wait 30 mins after eating is something I don't have to do. He just does not want me drinking with meals. So with that being said I did a lot better today with liquids and food today. Very happy that I have made this choice.

Did he say when the gas after meals passes? Im almost 5 weeks our and still getting it.

Anyone know when we can have cheese like string cheese or sliced cheese?

I've been having low fat cheese since starting pureed at week 3. Just a little sprinkled on top.

I am now 2 weeks post op and trying really hard to get used to this new lifestyle.....because that's what it really is! A huge change in how I think and consume food! What's even more difficult is that food and I don't get along anymore. I just started on soft foods yesterday, and it seems that immediately after eating, I experience nausea for about an hour afterwards. I also feel like my nausea is intensified if I can still taste the food in my mouth. I feel like I need to brush my teeth after each meal! And, although I know it's a no-no, I find myself needing to sip Water to wash out the taste of the food both during and right after I eat.

Oh, and I miss chocolate! Thought I was gonna lose my mind last night trying to resist the urge to snack on some chocolate! :P

I'm 2&1/2wks post op and I too sometimes need to sip and rinse my mouth during or after a meal. I figure as long as its just a little one it won't hurt me.

As for chocolate - I had cheated and had a mini Reece's cup about a week post-op because I was too weak willed to not have it, afterwards I felt so angry and guilty. I decided to go shopping and find something sweet as an emergency go-to. I got sugar-free boston cream pudding and sugar free individually wrapped russell stover Peanut Butter cups. It's funny because since I bought them I've only had 1 of each, but I'd rather have them around when I have a severe sweet tooth, then not and have something I really shouldn't instead.. Good luck!

I have this happen when I eat too fast. I start to eat and mindlessly start eating like before and wham! I feel sick! I have to lay down and sometimes I actually start dry heaving. It's the dumping syndrome that we were told about. It never happens when I take one bite and put down my spoon and then wait a bit and take another bite. It is all about trying to change my past habits of eating mindlessly. With the sleeve your body just won't have it!

I am 2 weeks out and have not lost anything for 4 days. Concerned here too.

SW 236. Goal 150. CW 219

I am 5 weeks out today and have not lost anything for almost 2 weeks. Finally it started moving this morning, so hope it will keep going. I lost 21 lbs in the first 2 weeks after surgery, then nothing and even going up a few. I think it is Water weight and also starting on more solid foods. Good luck to everyone!!!

Thank goodness I'm not the only gainer! I'm two and a half weeks out and lost 20, but now I'm up two. It's discouraging!

Good luck!!

Me too! I lost 22 pounds in less then 2 weeks and now I'm up 4 pounds... Weird! I think I need to get more Water in. I might be having some water retention:(

Sleeved 8/29... Is this how it works? You lose a lot then stop and then starts off again... Worried that my sleeve didn't work :/

I too was sleeved on 8/29. I have seen some early August sleevers say the third week is always a stall-out, but that after that they start losing again. Good luck, and just keep going

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
