I know prior to surgery and following surgery you have to take Iron & B12 but does anyone have an idea of how much?

I'm new to this too and I'm so glad you asked this question...I bought a Multi-Vitamin made by opurity that's labeled bypass and sleeve optimized Multivitamin, I wonder if I'm gonna need other supplements too. Susan

How do you like it? I was looking at that supplement this morning. My surgeon gave me a suggested list of a multivitamin, Iron, B12, and Calcium citrate.

My surgeon and NUT reccomend more than just the multivitamin. If it is a standard multivitamin, take two each day, but the barbaric ones just one a day. Then an additional 1500mg Calcium carbonate and 500mg B12 each day.

As I did the budget Mexican surgery thing (out-of-pocket limitations) I actually don't have a NUT. So thanks for asking the question here. I'm trying to do my own thing with the best information I have on hand. :-)

Everyone's dosage might be different but I was told to take the maximum dose of over the counter Iron that my drug store carried...which was 65 grams of iron. As far as the B-12, I have to take the sublingual kind...one droplet full per day. Consult your doctor first...but I hope this helps!!

Are all bariatric Vitamins chewable? I just don't like the taste, and was hoping that later on I would be able to take one that wasn't chewable or Gummy. If so, I'd love a recommendation.

It depends on your dr... Everyone says that... Mine says I can start swallowing whole pills after a month so I am going to suck it up for a month and switch to a regular Multi-Vitamin. My dr's requirements are a multivitamin with 400 mcg of folic acid, thiamin, selenium and zinc (take 2 a day) and then in addition to the multivitamin take 36 mg of Iron, 1500 mg of calcium citrate taken as 3 doses of 500 mg (take at separate time from the iron as that causes issues), a Vitamin B complex with B-50 dosage and Vitamin B-12 sublingual at least 500mcg a day...

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
