I cant believe i would feel like this, 6 days post op. No pain and no nausea which is a plus. But i cannot get all my fluids or my Proteins in. I get about 40oz of Fluid and about 30g of proteint in. So frustrated from feeling full all the time. Everything i eat/drink feels like a brick in my stomach. Tryin to choke down these shakes seem to be emotionally draining for me, I cant imagine doing this everyday, when will it get better??? Any ideas on how to get in more fluids without feeling like I'm gonna pop.

Change the tempature of drinks. Many have said that helps them. And be patient, you are still newly sleeved.

Yes! Hang in there! I am 11 days post op and have just started doing better at getting in at least 60g Liquid Protein and about the same amount of Water. But I can only stand to drink both if they are ice cold. Otherwise, forget it.

I am seriously looking forward to eating puréed foods! I just keep telling myself that it took time to get here, so naturally it's taking time to reverse the course. Then I take a sip of water ;)

Use a timer or watch the clock. Try to get at least an ounce every 15 minutes while you are awake. Either Protein shake or other Fluid. I used a shot glass as my glass and a liquid measuring cup as a little pitcher. If Water is hard, try herbal tea or flavored waters.

I agree with being patient, sipping all the time, and changing the temperature. My husband could do cold things easily. I on the other hand could drink hot Soups super quick and struggled with the cold shakes so worth trying different tastes and temperatures.

cannot get all my fluids or my Proteins in

hey newbie

welcome, welome :)

you'll get a lot of great info here

we're here to support you, give you advice - help guide you with poblems

you and you tummy are starting the slow recuperation period

Water should get easier to drink as time goes by

its more important to drink, then get your Protein in at this early stage of the sleeve

you said "everything you drink/eat feels like a brick in your stomach???

what are you "eating" at 7 days out???

after my WLS - i was on Clear liquids for a week, then full liquids, puree, soft, then sllllllllllowly went on to solids

for me, many others we couldn't tolerate anything substantial 6 days post up

talk to your surgeon/NUT

they are there to help you :)

good luck

kathy

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
