I started pureed foods last night at week 4. The half cup of Fage went down well. Today's scrambled egg with 1/4 c of cottage cheese is sitting like a lead sinker.

I got about half through and my nose started to run (my signal to stop) and I thought oh come on, surely more should fit. So I ate a bit more.

Idjit.

At least the dog got the last few bites, so *she's* happy!

You'd think by age 50 that having to learn things the hard way wouldn't be necessary any more. But nooooo.

Anyone having similar issues?

Lisa

LOL, don't be so hard on yourself. This is a totally new learning experience for anyone who has the sleeve. It takes a while to figure out how much you can eat / tolerate and, even when you think you have it dialed in, there are surprises. I promise it gets easier, and the rewards are many!

My dog now gets up and follows me when she seems me with a plate because she knows there will be left overs. Here she is, sitting in my chair, drinking my g-2 because she knows I can't finish it.

Sorry didn't mean to hijack your thread :)

Did you get this runny nose thing only after you started eating solid foods? We're on liquids and what I feel is a heaviness in my chest. Wondering if the hiccups, runny noses, sneezing etc start up once people do solids?

No worries, Gamergirl, the dog is always hijacking attention, I'm used to it. :-)

I revised from band to sleeve and I vaguely remember the runny nose at the beginning of banded life, but I managed to ignore it after a few years (oddly enough that coincided with regaining 80 lbs.). It came back/got noticeable right after surgery. I've been on Clear Liquids plus Protein shakes for almost two months (pre and post surgery - strict surgeon).

Anyone else had "the signal" right from the get go?

P.S. been loving your recipes, even if I never make one!

I am 11 weeks out and I still have to remind myself to slow down! I am getting better but dang after 52 years of bad eating habits I guess it will take some time to get this down. Hang in there! :)

I'm almost 3 weeks out, on pureed foods.....I eat very slowly, tiny bites.....but a couple times I eat that one bite too many, and I just feel very very full....I'm starting to recognize the stopping point....

I didn't get the sneezing/runny nose until I started solids. it's kind of nice to have a signal :-)

Update....still on pureed foods until tomorrow..........and for now the runny nose starts about 1/2 an hour after a "meal".....if that's my signal, it's a little late :D

LOL! Cute pic! My poor dog has developed allergies to EVERYTHING and can no longer eat people food (altho she still stares u down). She can't have chicken, corn, wheat, rice, gluten - nuthin but meat and veggies. We buy the only brand (Wellness) that Petco and Pet Smart have without fillers. Cost is $120 a month for food and 1 box of Cookies. And she's a 15 lbs dog! If she has a bite of bacon or chicken, she'll scratch till she bleeds...

She would definitely be jealous of all the lucky dogs on here...

I get one or two hiccups while Im eating...I guess that is telling me to stop and when I do stop then follows the rest of the hiccups....and u guys are right it is nice to have a warning sign..My surgery was Aug.20th and I was able to start pureed after day seven. Well I couldn't wrap my head around drinking my food so I would do the other things on my list by like what was said earlier I had to learn the hard way because I started eating other foods that weren't as soft as what I should have been eating, and OMG I always felt after like something was sitting on my chest...so needless to say I have to learn how to eat what I am suppose to eat...I am having such a big problem with this by Im learning to do better...one thing is for sure I don't over eat because like all of u there is always left-overs on my plate, and I don't have a dog; so I just pass it all over to my husband...He'll eat it...lol...If anyone has any ideas....please I'm open for hep...I wanted to try chicken with like an Alfredo sauce...Is the pureed food like drinking ur food or is it just in my head...

Learning is hard, after two years I am having to relearn what it is all about. My Soft Stop is a small burp. Learning about your soft stop is very important as it will keep you from sliming and other eating to much or eating to fast symptoms. I have also learned that some foods I just don't tolerate well anymore -Pasta being the biggest offender and a food that I truly have had a long term love affair with.

Here are a couple of suggestions that might help, even though you have probably already heard them): Eat slowly, learn to recognize your soft stop, and slowly introduce new foods into your diet to determine your tolerance of it.

Good Luck on your journey!

Yes thank u...I do know when I get that hiccup to stop.... Lol...so I guess I keep doing what I'm doing if it don't feel good then don't eat it....I just don't want it to affect my weight loss...I even got these lil things from special k blond brownie bites 100 calorie...well they ate extremely sift soft they melt in my mouth they don't make me sick I can't finish a whole bag which is good but for some reason my mind is saying u shouldn't have that so I have retired them cause I don't know if it is OK to have....this is a lil frustrating....but hopefully it will get better...it helps that I have people to talk to who know what I'm going through....

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
