Insurance Requirments

Recommended Posts

oh no! they talked about that same thing youre having to do in the support group tonight. Tey said there is a lot of risk having surgery if your BMI is 60 or above so the surgeons require weight loss first. I know you can do! back in the day I could lose 50 in two months (with diet pills lol)...not any more! lol ya' date=' I am getting close and very nervous about what insurance will say. But I cant wait to find out! after Wednesday we will see! good luck, and kick butt! YOU CAN DO THIS!!!!!!![/quote']

Apparently my insurance is easy peasy and not that strict bc I met with the insurance lady right after the surgeon and she said that with my health issues and Weight I met the requirements. I already know what my portion of the surgery is and everything, which isn't as bad as I expected. I think you will be fine with your insurance! I know you are nervous though! And thanks! I'm trying to kick butt....lol. I did really good yesterday. I only had 1301 calories. For my size that's is really good! Hopefully I can keep it up. I'm worried about the weekend more than anything.

I met with my surgeon on the 22nd. They scheduled my surgery for October 23rd. I have my psych eval on Sept 10th and have to see nutritionist also (waiting for a call back to schedule that) baring any hang ups with my insurance I should be good to go :)

That's awesome!

I have been reading a lot of your post and it seems that most usually have 8 to 9 month process leading up to surgery. I know some of this is because pre op testing, but I was wondering if this is also because the insurance required a 6 month diet program? I know a lot of them do so I was wondering if the 8 or 9 month process included this for most of you. My insurance doesn't require this so I'm just trying to get an idea.

See and I don't understand all that requirement stuff. You guys don't hate me, but once my paperwork was submitted, it took 3 days to get approved. REALLY! Just 3 days. I had to sign a form saying I was going to loose 10-15 pounds before the surgery, but that was it for me. I think it was 1 1/2 months from my first visit to my day of surgery, it went really fast for me. I have Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance. Hope this helps....

That was fast! My insurance is apparently easy, but I have to lose 50 lbs before surgery per my surgeon.

So how did your Phsyc eval go?

It was quick and easy. I was worried for no reason..lol she talked to me for probably 10min and then gave me a test on the computer, the test was questions were "agree" or "disagree" questions like, " my dad was the male influence in my life I love my dad" and "most people will steal if they think they wont get caught" and questions about wanting to hurt yourself or others and also about "seeing" ghosts and hearing voices that tell you what to do...lol it was about 30-45min. It went pretty good I think and she gave advice on eating and Protein and stuff, things you hear from the NUT. Thanks for asking and remembering..lol I called the surgeons office and they haven't received the results yet, but when they do then I go see surgeon and wait for insurance approval. So excited!!

My insurance requires that I do a 6month non-surgical weightless program with a Dr. But I already have all of my test dates which will all be completed next month. I also have my surgery date which is set for jan 30th of next year. My surgery center requires a 2week liquid diet too.

I still don't know if my surgeons office requires any diets pre-op. but I guess I will find out soon.lol im all done with all appointments, just waiting for the results to be sent to surgeons office so I can go see them and see whats next

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
