I have two more weigh in for the 6 month supervised diet by my doctor. She wanted me to lose 5 pounds. (Weigh in is this Friday) Not only did I NOT lose 5 pounds, but I gained 4. UGH ... I feel bloated and horrible. I want to cry. I have been overweight forever and I'm still overweight. I just want to crawl in a hole. A deep dark hole. To make it worse, my husband wants to go to Six Flags Saturday and me to meet his friend. Why couldn't he wait 2 or 3 months. I'm totally disgusted with myself.

She will be most disappointed if you were not following her guidelines.

But then again, if losing weight was easy for us wouldn't need surgery would we?

I think they just want to see a demonstration of the desire you have in your heart and mind to lose the weight. They assure themselves that if you can lose a bit now, when you get the powerful tool of VSG you will be a success.

Forgive yourself and carve yourself out a new determination to beat the shnizzle out of excess fat. Don't let the bully push you around. Run his butt out the door.

Don't beat yourself up over it, lots of people do the same thing during the supervised diet. I gained about 10 lbs while on mine but lost it by my last weigh in. The insurance coordinator said as long as I was at or below my starting weight I would be fine. My last month I lost 10 lbs putting me below my starting weight and insurance approved me. It's hard to diet before you have a surgery like this especially since you have to change your lifestyle after surgery. Just try your best and make your last two months count. You will do great!!

NOT lose 5 pounds, but I gained 4. want to cry.

inarakatra

please don't cry :(

here is a tissue!!! ;)

many of us goof before WLS and overeat - it IS a crime, but not a life sentence ;)

i agree that NUT/surgeon want to see that you are really committed to the procedure, and "after" life

you must reassure them that you are ready - more importantly reassure yourself that you are ready and anxious to start

they will/hopefully give you another chance

if you are supposed to drink only liquids - do it!!!! most of us have there done that!!!

you've got a long road ahead of you - ups and downs to reach goal

but............it doesn't stop there

for the rest of your life you must eat and drink properly, follow all the rules - thats the name of the game to stay a winner

i can see the determination in your face that you are ready and eager to start your healthier, happier, longer life :)

good luck

kathy

In response to the 6 flags dilemma, this makes me sad. Your husband obviously loves you - he committed to spend the rest of his life with you!!! If this is a friend of his, he will likely love you too - for making his friend happy.

The fact that you might be slimmer 2-3 months from now is not the answer. You are still YOU!!! That is enough, even if you never lose the weight. Please do not stop living because the weight shames you. Weight is not the answer (not denying that that it adds dramatically to our sense of self worth, but...) you are! Go have fun with the man who loves you and his friend.

Keep trying on the pre-op diet. If it's any consolation I am 3 weeks out and just gained 2 lbs!! Sucky, but not uncommon. Were you close to getting your period when you had to weigh in? that often adds a lot of weight (probably my gain).

Also your profile pic- adorable!! Get out there with your bad self and live a little.

@gmanbat thanks :) I agree with the "if losing weight was easy" part. @Kygirlkeshia I am a few pounds below my starting, so hopefully my insurance won't deny me. @proudgrammy Thanks for the virtual tissue and pep talk. I needed it. @zoftig I just wanted to make a good first impression and so many people judge us by our looks. I am about to start (Aunt Flo) and I hope my doctor understands that. I try not to let my weight define who I am, but it's just a tough area for me to overcome. --- Thanks Everyone!!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
