Hitting a stall one week after sugery

Recommended Posts

I haven't lost any weight in 2 days and I only had my surgery 9 days ago. Is this normal? Did I already hit a stall? I'm only on a stage 2 diet. Should I start regular exercise again? Should I be doing anything different? I'm nervous that Im stalling ALREADY!

I personally didnt and havent weighed myself other than at the Dr. I would try not to worry. Eat small amounts and walk.

I stalled the same for a few days around then. I don't think I was eating enough. Anyways, I stopped weighing every day and being obsessed cause it just upset me. I weighted after 3 days and was down about 4 more lbs. I think our bodies are just adjusting. Don't stress. I still don't believe I'll loose weight in my head but just be patient.

No need to panic. I hit a stall at exactly the same time. Mine lasted 3 weeks and I was completely horrified. You are not doing anything wrong, your body is just healing and adjusting, you will start losing again just keep focus on liquids and Protein up.

I am not even sure it's a stall. Post surgery all is cattiwumpus. I GAINED weight in my first post-surgical week and in the second week lost nothing. AND your cycle will also play havoc with your weight... Relax. Just follow your program (and I bet it focuses on liquids and proteins). If I gave one piece of advice, don't weigh every day... It'll just drive you crazy!

I stalled the same time as you and was so frustrated. I am at a stall now @ 6weeks and I've been walking everyday!! I have stopped weighing myself because I was getting so depressed thinking the scale should go down everyday. I know it's hard not to weigh at first because you are so excited about the loss but don't worry if it's not moving everyday. Just get your Water and Protein in and you will do great!

I completely understand how you are feeling. I weighed in at 314 right before surgery. I waited until one week later to weigh and I was at 322. I thought their scales must have been off. Two days later and I was at 310. Lots of Fluid from IV's and swelling. It was like overnight and my stomach had shrunk. Just give it some time. The body is an amazing and confusing thing.

Wow, you've all been so helpful! I'm glad I'm not the only one going through this or who has gone through this. Thanks for all the support! I will try not to check the scale everyday and get discouraged if nothing changes. I will continue to get all my Protein and fluids in and hope for the best! Thanks so much, everyone!

This early you are just "healing" from major surgery, AND they gave you LOTS of liquids via IV in the hospital. No stall... but wait, we ALL get 'em.

Stalls are part of the journey. You must learn to stay strong, stay focused and be sure your doing what your supposed to be doing at the phase your on. Try not to panic. Your body is getting adjusted to the new calorie restrictions as well as healing from surgery. If you stick to the plan, stay in the phase your in, be sure to stick to the portion sizes recommended at your stage, you will lose the weight. Check yourself.. if your "cheating" that may cause a problem., but if your not.. then know the stalls will move on. Talk to your NUT if your stall is more than a week or two. Even at that time , you may be losing inches.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
