IBC Personal Choice PPO in PA coverage

Hello all. I have IBC Personal Choice PPO coverage in PA. I was wondering if anyone has this insurance and been sleeved. I have all my pre-op things like nutrition classes (2) my psych evals (2) my sleep studies and now been on c-pap for 1 month faithfully (actually love it), my hgbA1C is 5.9 so heading towards diabetes, excruciating foot pain and knee pain. I'm 5'6" 243 lbs so my BMI is not that high. I have my surgeon consult on the 8th of August. I'm so afraid I will be denied. Can anyone please tell me what to do to make this sleeve happen. I need help. The sleeve is my only hope. Dieting and exercise or diet pills dont work! I am tired of the yo-yo'ing weight. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Its been 1.5 weeks since submission to insurance company. No word yet if approved or not. How long does rhe approval/denial process take??? Im so anxious. I cant afford self pay. Any suggestions or experience with bcbs personal choice ppo would be sooo appreciated

I got my approval within a week of submission. I would call your coordinator or you can call IBC to get the status. Good luck.

Well im extremely pissed right now. I called my insurance company and they have no record of any wls document submission. I called my dr iffice n they are being shady so now i have lost trust in them. So im looking at Barix Clinic in Langhirne, pa. If anyone has used this facility i would love to hear from you. If anyone changed dr's during the process how did it work?? Do i have to now repeat all the steps. Im so disgusted!! Please give me some hope

I know someone who used them and she was happy. Sorry you are having problems. Good luck.

Hey, don't get discouraged. I worked at IBC for years & now work as a patient advocate. My experience with the insurance reps is some may not be knowledgable enough to know where to search. So when you called IBC, did you only ask them to check for the WLS documents? If so, the member service rep is only going to check incoming documents. It's possible the doctor's office may have called in the request or submitted it electronically. Not all of IBC's reps are experienced enough to know all of the systems to check. You may want to call back and tell them that your doctor submitted a pre- cert request for WLS & you want the status. That way the rep can check the pre-cert/auth system or any other electronic system the docs use to communicate with IBC. If the don't understand or sound too knowledgable, request to speak with a supervisor so that they can research more thoroughly.

Good luck & please keep me posted.

Thanx Tinyone. I clld the pre auth dept n nothing. I then went to the dr's office n they admitted they havent submitted my documents bc the dr isnt performing surgery at his new hospital yet. I set up an appt with Barix clinic in Langhorne, PA. Im just concerned i may have to repeat things i have already completed.

O ok, such a shame they didn't inform previously. from what I understand, you won't have to start over. My clinic, Abington, said they get plenty of patients that started the process at another clinic but had to transfer to them and IBC allowed them to transfer without starting over. Good luck.
