Tapsnap- I will say this most of what you are referring to is the Old Testament ' date=' before Christ . Most Christians try to live by the New Testament , that is why God gave his only son so that we could be saved from all of the sins we committed in our life. I am not trying to push religion on anyone it is up to everyone what they want to believe. Myself I believe in God and always will. Good Day everyone and God Bless.[/quote']

Actually you should read the New Testament again Jesus says the old laws are still to be obeyed... It's in Mathew I believe...

I am not gonna spend my time defending my beliefs! I don't have the time for that. Like I said when I first posted , if you don' like what was posted why click on it? Do you not have anything better to do than disagree with strangers? I still wish you the best and I will pray for you God Bless.

Well, I tried to end it anyway. Atheists are determined campaigners. They are passionate about saving you from yourself and a non-existent God so you can live your life free from religious restraint and look forward to an eternity of oblivion. Either that or they are trying to convince themselves against their own conscience.

Since our lives have no eternal meaning and we are but conglomerations of chemicals why bother? Why not leave everyone alone? There is no such thing as moral superiority since morals are but electrochemical responses. Mass murder is no more abhorrent than squashing a fly hence the 100+ million executions under it's influence. Atheism offers a world of nothingness and futility. Live, die, rot, forgotten, oblivion. If all of that is true, so be it. It is not.

I did not create God. I met Him. I talk to Him, He talks to me. From the depths of my being I know Him, enjoy Him, and feel His joy toward me. I am either nuts or greatly blessed. I am not ashamed. He is real.

Atheists love to stand aloof and tell us about Christianity. They love quoting the bible they don't believe in. It is a book that requires a guide, The Holy Spirit. Rejecting Him, they go it on their own, never getting the picture. They wrest the scriptures to their own destruction. God hides Himself from smart asses.

I no longer have the patience that I used to have. I am sorry.

Now, my contribution to this exercise in futilty is over. I have unfollowed this topic. Release the war dogs.

Let time get the final word.

I would say we are passionate about saving society from being know-nothings and sheep. If you met an adult today that still believed in Santa Clause, Thor, or The Easter Bunny wouldnt you want to help them and show them the truth? I have faith that man will be able to evolve past needing these mental crutches to get through life. I would love to leave everyone alone and just go about my life, but people are trying to inject God into every facet of society. They are trying to teach intelligent Design in schools, denying citizens equal rights under the law, try to use the government to control female reproductive rights. So as soon as these zealots stop trying to force their flawed morality on the rest of us I will be more than happy to shut up. Well, maybe not because I cannot help but care about truth. Dont you care that what you believe is demonstrably untrue, and clearly written by unintelligent desert dwellers from thousands of years ago? People say you should respect all beliefs, but how can you respect someone who worships a homicidal, infanticidal, megalomaniac like the God from the bible? I know the Bible better than 90% of Christians simply because I have read it and still read it regularly because the single easiest way to deconvert someone into being an atheist is simply to show them some of the horrible things God does in the Bible, and to demonstrate the staggering inconsistencies. If you really think you are talking to god you should seek help, because you are schizophrenic.

Being a Smart Ass is better than being a DUMB ASS

Gmanbat- when was the last time you seen someone post a atheism thread on the forums?

When the last time you got a knock on your door by atheists looking to spread the good word?

When was the last time athiest protested at a soldiers funnel or even a kids funnel?

I see more Christians pushing there religion on others then I do atheists pushing no religion.

I have had my car window broke in and my car keyed because I have a evolution sticker on my car. You don't see me doing this to people who have religious stickers on there cars.

The bible say love thy neighbor and to not pass judgment for that is his job. But yet I get called names when getting into my car by Christians because of a sticker.

So I am sorry that I am using the bible that Christians say they follow to defend myself.

Bigcountryab and Tapsnap...we do have an "Agnostics/Atheists" subforum that you guys should post in. It doesn't get much traffic but there are some of us who like it, on the rare occasion when a post is made there. There is also a "Religious" forum which I believe this original post should have landed in. But as stated, the Lounge is kind of a free for all place so any topic is considered acceptable.

But to everyone, if you want to talk religion or atheism with like minded individuals and not have it turn into a heated debate, then I suggest using those subforums.

I'm not a Christian, but I will never understand why atheists take such offense to the personal beliefs of others. To imply that all Christians are sheep or have fundamentalist beliefs is completely ignorant and an unfair generalization.

IMHO, to absolutely refuse the existence of a higher power is as absurd as absolute faith in one.

If you have ANY evidence at all that ANY such higher power exist I'm all ears. I do not believe any god or gods exist, but if tomorrow morning there was hard evidence that one did I would change my mind and go with the facts. Religion can't do that, despite the mountains of data showing the bible is garbage they can't or won't let it go. It makes me sad for them that they are so weak they can't stand on their on...

Atheist Zealots... religious zealots... vegan zealots... animal rights zealots....It's all the same, people who think that somehow because of a belief they hold that they are superior to others.

For me clearing my head of religion and getting rid of all the cognitive dissonance it created was the best thing I ever did for myself. I am happier. I'm a better person. I care more about investing in myself.. damn it, I'm even pretty sure my hair has more luster. Shedding religion MADE ME A BETTER PERSON.... but it didn't make me a better than anyone else.

Wow. That is an extremely general statement. Just like christians, or buddhists, or jews aren't all_________ (fill in the blank) neither are atheists.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
