I haven't really heard anyone talk about how much pain they were in after surgery. Or how tired I would be. But I can tell you I am in lots of pain and I get very tired so quickly. I think I take several naps and sleep all night long. So I guess I'm wondering if anyone else has these issues. I'm only 2 days out.

I did. I was in excruciating pain. Could not hardly get up to go to the bathroom. Day 3 started feeling a little better still bad pain though. I ended up back in the hospital because my body was rejecting the drain tube. After that was out a couple days later was do much better. I'm 3 weeks out Tommorow. It does get better. I'm much better now. Still achy, much more energy.

My 2nd day was hell. After that I started feeling better, slowly. I was tired and napping for a while. I am 2 weeks out and yesterday was the first day I haven't napped, though I did zone out for a while in the evening before my son would go to sleep. It does get better.

Everyone is different. I didn't really have pain, but I did have a whole lot of nausea the first 24hrs. That was a little rough. And I really didn't have a whole lot of energy until week 2 (when I started Protein & vitamins).

Hope you feel better soon!!! :)

I was not in pain due in part to the morphine and the Lortab. I was not tired because I was not doing much, sleeping as much as possible and occasional walking. I took my time for recovery, never one to waste an opportunity to goldbrick and get sympathy. B)

The only real pain I had was the gas pain in my shoulder. But tired...oh my. I needed a nap after taking a shower. Just drying off was like running a marathon. By day 3 or 4 I could see it getting better. By day 8 I started to feel human again. But then the head hunger started and I was wishing for the gas pain back....so there's that to look forward too. ;)

I thought I was the oddball, being in more than moderate pain afterwards. I read so many people here don't have hardly any pain, and then there's me. Not really a big baby, but this surgery HURT. I'm 2 weeks out now and just now am not taking the liquid Vicodin they gave me. I can finally sleep on my side (with a pillow). Not really tired, I'm not a napper anyway. Can never fall asleep during the day. Spent 2 nites in the hospital with my IV Dilaudid and went home on liquid Vicodin. Was surprised there was no nausea (except right after my swallow test, I had to have Zofran for that). Usually I get nausea after surgery.

But yes, it was painful. My lapband 4 yrs ago was a piece of cake (did I just say cake? I meant Protein shake!). I'm just starting to get hungry as well. Never noticed how many burger commercials were on tv till the other nite!

Good luck. Hope you start feeling better soon. It does get better. Every morning when I woke up, felt like I was hit by a train. Liquid Vicodin is really good stuff!

For me, the 2nd day out was the worst. I felt like I had done a thousand sit ups, and then somebody came along and knifed me. Walk when your awake, it really will help with the pain. And take as many naps as you can. You just had major surgery, anesthesia will be in your system for a few days so of course you will be tired. This will pass. Rest & Walk. :D

I blogged about it....I was in some pain immediately waking up in recovery, but after that my main issue was nausea for the next few days. I slept a LOT too. It was a little like having the flu.

Still felt sluggish until i got a good balanced diet going -- about a month. Im 50 lbs down as of today, and the energy is increasing every day! The discomfort of surgery is a distant memory :)

I love your analogy of sit ups and being knifed. That describes it perfectly! I had my surgery on the 25th. The next day was the worst. I didn't know how I was going to make it; I couldn't move without being in extreme pain. Fortunately I have my mom around to help me out because I can't do much of anything on my own. I couldn't even get out of bed without her help. I'm already getting a little better, though. The gas pain is the most obnoxious and walking does help. I'm so grateful for this forum! It's nice to be able to compare notes and to know that others have survived.

I didn't have tons of pain, but that's b/cI took my pain meds! I also needed a nap a lot! At 2 days out I was still in the hospital. Even now, 9 days out, I needed a nap after folding laundry and straightening the toys in the toy room.

Once I was in my room' date=' I used a heating pad on my back then on my tummy. Non-stop the first week. I never had any gas pains in my shoulders like others claim. I took my meds every 4 hours the first 5 days then 5 hours the next 5 days the 6 hours 3 days. I also took Gas-X strips (2 at a time).

Iam now 4 weeks out and still have a hard time getting my liquids & Protein in. Still very weak but working full time and I have a husband and six year old.

Iam 45yr. Old

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
