No gas pain just pain where they took my stomach out

I know what you mean, that is what hurt me the most after my surgery. I kept a pillow with me and held it against my body when getting up, coughing, sneezing, etc, it helped a lot. The good news is after about a week it starts hurting a little less every day! Good luck!

Hi fellow September Sleevers... wondering if anyone has a sample menu of their soft/puréed phase that was 2-3oz Protein 1-2oz carbs each meal and managed to get 70g protein... I'm lost and will be on Phase 2 of post op diet next week. Thanks so much

My first post op is tomorrow and I'm excited to go weigh in and even more excited to hopefully progress past liquid diet. I've been reading posts about not knowing what to make. I researched puréed food diets and there are several pages of ideas. But here is an example an example. http://jeanetteshealthyliving.com/2011/03/collection-of-pureed-soups-curried.html

Loving my decision so far!

Ugh!! My first post op was yesterday and I barely hit 5 lbs. :0(. When!!!?!?!

I was surprised to see 12lbs... I would have been happy with 1 lb... A loss is a loss... Stay positive!!! :)

I had my first post op appointment with surgeon today. He was not happy that I only lost 11 pounds in the last 9 days. Told me I need to work harder.

He cleared me for bike riding today so maybe that will help!

That sounds tough. It is at least a pound a day.

Hey everyone! It's been some days since my last post. I am doing well since my surgery September 13th. For the most part it has been easy except the occasional crave. How do you combat the cravings? I haven't weighed myself but I can tell a major difference in how I feel. I still can't wait to get past this point. Did anyone ever go through buyer's remorse? I did at first but as I get back to feeling more normal I feel better. I thank you all again for the words of encouragement and advice. It has helped more than you can imagine. :)

Glad to hear you are doing so good! I have had more than a few of those 'buyers remorse' moments...Sometimes when my husband is making his dinner I almost have panic attacks thinking 'what have I done to myself' or 'I'm never gonna be able to eat food again', that's when I start telling myself that this surgery is saving me from myself and I will eat food again, just not the huge quantities I used to eat! That usually helps!

I know I will be able to eat normal food real soon. But it's just so hard at times. I finally got over the discomfort of drinking. Now if I can do the same with eating. I hate that bloated feeling. Luckily I haven't been sick. I heard horror stories of people eating too much and getting sick.

I had my post op, 9 days out 17lbs. I focused really hard in walking 3-4 times a day 15-30 minutes and. Forced myself to sip, sip, sip all the time. The dr and nurse were surprised but very happy with the loss. I'm happy to be on the losers bench

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
