Anyone lose 1-2lbs a week consistently...like over months and months? I am 10 weeks out and for the last 6 weeks that is what i lose. Slow is ok but i am afraid that it is going to stop soon. Would love to hear from anyone who lost at this rate pretty much the whole time and is out 6 months or longer? Just need a little reassurance. Thanks!!

the same thing happened to me. It is really the best way to loose it. you might stop for a week or two but you will catch up all at once :) good luck bodyweight.png?ts=1374587260

Yes, after the pre-op and first month, I've been losing 1-2 pounds about 8-11 per month. I thought this was slow but I am just shy of 6 months post op and I'm down 95lbs. When these smaller numbers add up, they lead to huge accomplishments.

You don't get to control your rate of loss and for most of us it doesn't even form a good pattern you can rely upon, so don't get too comfortable.

Have other people done this? Yes. I'd argue far more lose slowly than quickly, but those "I lost 90 pounds in six whole days!" posts get hundreds of responses while the more reasonable and moderate losses don't get the same attention.

Relax, you're not alone. This is a long road, no matter how quickly you lose. Getting to goal and being able to maintain is far more important than losing quickly. Everyone hits plateaus or stalls along the way and everyone gets worried that they've lost as much as they can when it happens. You keep doing the right things, push through it and keep slogging along until you reach goal. Then, you keep doing the same right things and keep being accountable for the rest of your life. It's a forever choice we made to have surgery - I wouldn't worry too much about losing slowly.

Good luck,

~Cheri

Thanks for this, all of you, and strong thoughts to the original poster.

We all get so obsessed with the numbers-- it's been the death of my diets many a times. I'm worried I'll get obsessed with the scale. It helps to have a support group like this reminding us we're so much more than the weight of our bodies against gravity!

Thanks everyone!! After a failed lapband and years of truly dieting and exercising for no weight loss has me very scared. Every week i am truly thankful for that 1 lb gone. Just needed to hear something besides "i lost 12lbs today and its been two months and i am at goal". lol. Thanks!!

This thread is just what I needed too! I'm 7 weeks postop and am losing 1-2 lbs a week. Feeling frustrated by that but it's good to hear I'm not the only one and that we are more the norm.

Me too. Up down plateau! Went to the surgeon and she said i was 3 lbs down from last month. I told her I get frustrated when I see everyone passing me by at double or more, and she said long after they stop losing ill still be doing my 1 lb a week!!

I also think being a band revision has something to do with my amt of weight loss. I didn't suddenly go from eating 4 cups of food per meal to 1/2 a cup, so in essence by 6 mos honeymoon was up years ago. ;-) oh well her goes another pound!

I lose about .8-1.0 a day. Depending in what I've ate what I'm doing and how much exercise I endure.

This is just what I needed to hear today. Sleeved 5/21 and down 34 lbs. Haven't lost in 2 wks so feeling discouraged despite reminding myself it's only been 9 weeks! Worried that I won't lose anymore but trying to be patient.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
