Calories that are usually consumed

Recommended Posts

I am four weeks post surgery and I have already gained 2lbs however overall I have lost 26lbs. My doctor was upset with me and felt that I was cheating. I have been having trouble swallowing, lack of appetite and some other unrelated problems and was actually in the hospital for those other problems. Everyone has been very concerned about how little I eat. somedays 2 Protein Drinks was all I consumed. My average calories for at least 3 1/2 weeks were well under 500 and often 300-400. In the last 4 days I have turned that around and I am eating 3 meals and sometimes I snack. My calories have jumped to around 800 average. I was wondering how many calories is normal for this stage and how many calories is normal once you fully recover. My doctor wouldn't answer that question but I kind of want to know so that I can gage if I am overeating. I don't feel that I have cheated in the least. I don't know why I gained. I was upset that my doctor felt I cheated and didn't believe me when I told her how little I have been eating for most of the time since surgery.

600-800 is the amount at this stage. You will lose. I continue to fool my body by eating maybe 1400 one day and then maybe 900 the next. I am 8 months out and am losing very slowly. It will come off with determination. I will get to goal. It may take me a ling time but I will get there. The most important thing at the stage you are is getting enough Protein and liquids. Sip sip sip all day long. 8 glasses of liquid a day, very important.

At 4 weeks I was at 900 per dr paper work. Your going to have ups and downs. Lots if times Water weight etc, you want to get calories so you don't go into starvation mode. I am at 4 mo out and eat 1000-1200 most days and losing 2lbs a week on average not fast loser but still going. I also work out 3-4 times a week. Good luck

I'm not a fast loser. My dr said no more than 1200 ever.I'm at about 5-600 and I'm about 7 weeks post op. I can only consume so much...but I see my dinners getting a little larger.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
