Lately I've been feeling really nauseous and eating seems l make it worse.. I have no doubt it has to do with Protein deficiency, but I've been doing my best to get in as much of my protein beverages as I can, though I am waiting on the Protein Shots my dad ordered.

Anyway today I went to eat dinner and just had the worst chest pain! I only had one bite and chewed a lot, and I hadn't had anything else so I don't know what that's about?!

I just had an upper GI done and they said my surgery was fine, so I don't know what the deal is with my stomach and chest is, and the doctor never called me to say anything after the upper GI.. Sometimes my doctor is like impossible to even get a hold of, I don't know what to do.

My mothers upset cause she doesn't know what to do and I just feel like I'm at the end of my rope. I've been feeling awful for the past week now! I was fine last week. Nothing has changed! I don't get it!

Sorry to hear your having problems with eating. Maybe it's time to contact your doctor again. How long has it been since your surgery? Maybe you need to stay on liquids or mushy foods longer.

Sorry to hear about your difficulties eating and with Protein intake. Tomorrow I'll be two weeks post op and I'm getting my Protein from Isopure drinks. They are good and 15 g.of protein per 8oz. Premier Protein shakes are better than most and are 30g pee 11oz. I hope this info helps.

I can't do the shakes either. Been battling nausea for the past 3 weeks post op. What helped was homemade mashed potato Soup 1 or 2 ounces every 1 to 2 hours. And pepcid 20mg twice a day. You could ask about reglan prescription.

@LittleDooker, I'm so sorry that you aren't feeling well and can totally relate to the nausea! I seriously struggled with nausea until I was 4 weeks out, it's rough... especially when you're trying to keep up with your Protein. The absolute best thing I did was call my Dr and get my nausea prescription renewed. Once I started taking a low dose of the med, I was able to drink my Protein and I started feeling much better!

Also, when I was feeling really awful, my Dr. told me to constantly take very small sips of room temperature Water, with peppermint extract mixed in (About 2 drops per 32 oz).

Hope you feel better soon!

Thank you everyone for the feedback.

I'm 5weeks post op.

I actually got some Isopure but I'm afraid to drink it cause it says 100% whey Protein and on my two week pre op diet I learned the whey Protein shakes were making me sick. And I agree that the Protein Shots I have now are body fortress and they are extremely bitter and not easy to get down D:

Last time I took my nausea meds they didn't do anything for me :(

But I plan on calling my doctor if things keep the route they are. But I pretty much stick to eating Soup and other soft foods.

Agreed- they were like cough syrup...ddc4e

I'm only 3 days on post-op, I found if intake the Protein shots (110 calories and 26 grams of protein) and pour it into my Water bottle it tast like flavored water.i sip it throughout the day so I know I'm at least getting in some Protein as I start the new way eating

Zofran is worthless. Ask for phenergan, works better.

Op, I learned too that the whey was what was making me so sick. My NUT suggested trying Jay Robb egg white Protein and it has worked well for me. Still looking forward to leaving all shakes behind when I'm on solid foods, but the vanilla egg white Protein saved me from a very bad place.

You can get it at the Vitamin shoppe. chocolate is ok, but the unflavored is NASTY, smells like fish in the bag and tastes even worse:(

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
